Looking for a unique career opportunity in a dynamic company?
Analog IC Design Engineer
The Role
At DNA Electronics Ltd, we are integrating cutting-edge semiconductor
technologies with novel biochemical techniques to develop products for
DNA analysis and molecular diagnostics.
You will join a highly dedicated team responsible for the delivery of
electronic systems in a medical device for detecting DNA sequences. These
systems include board-level electronics and custom mixed-signal integrated
circuits designed by an in-house team of experienced electronic engineers.
You will be a key contributor to the design, verification, layout and testing of
advanced mixed-signal circuits for the custom IC’s. The circuits to be
implemented will include: advanced ADC’s (high-speed and/or highresolution), low-noise voltage references, low-noise amplifiers, CT and DT
filters, highly accurate temperature sensors and control systems. You will
also operate at the level of the entire system (IC plus board-level
electronics) working with other members in the EE team to deliver the best
solution.
Appointment will be at the grade of Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Principal
Engineer dependent upon experience
You will report to the Head of Electronic Engineering.
Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for the entire IC’s, from gathering of requirements
from stakeholders through to tape-out. This will involve design planning,
concept generation and the writing of specifications as well as detailed celllevel design. The supervision of both external and internal partners is likely
to form an important part of the role.

The electronic systems developed must operate in relation to other aspects
of the greater system (e.g. mechanical, microfluidic and biochemical
aspects) and you should enjoy communicating, brainstorming, and solving
challenges side-by-side with colleagues from other disciplines (e.g.
biochemistry, micro-fluidics, industrial designers).
Qualifications and experience
• Excellent academic background in a relevant discipline
• Highly experienced in the design of high-performance ADC’s, including
both high-order oversampling and fast Nyquist-rate architectures,
demonstrable through fully verified silicon.
• Experienced in the design of low-noise amplifiers
• Experienced in the design of discrete-time filters using Matlab, carried
through to the silicon level using switched-capacitor architectures. Good
understanding of nonidealities in switched-capacitor circuits and how to
overcome them.
• Good understanding of design techniques in deep submicron CMOS
processes
• Experienced in gathering requirements from stakeholders and creating
IC-level/macro architectures and specifications
•
•
Experienced at writing specifications for digital cells (implementation in
HDL is not a necessary skill)
Fully competent in the use of Cadence design tools (ADE and ADE-XL,
Spectre, AMS, Ocean, Assura, etc)
Desirable:
• Experience in RF/high-speed IC design
• Proven track record in delivering entire ICs (rather than macros) with at
least some designs in volume production
• Team and/or project management experience
• Contribution towards mixed-signal design flow and methodologies and
ISO9000 accreditation
• Knowledge of DFT techniques
• Commercial awareness in management issues/decision-making
• A background in medical device development and understanding of
legislative requirements (i.e., ISO13485).
The Person
We are looking for people with a passion for their work - people who strive
for exceptional results and who can deliver pragmatic solutions on time.
You should have a practical, self-motivated approach to your work:
creatively debugging and proactively overcoming design challenges. Above
all else, we are looking for outstanding candidates who have the drive to
learn, adapt and solve difficult yet practical challenges.
You will need to be an effective communicator to contribute to solving
problems outside their field of immediate expertise
Location
DNA Electronics headquarters is based in West London at White City,
London, UK.
We are open to applications looking to be based in either South East
England or the West Coast of the United States.
Apply
If you believe you meet the above criteria and would relish playing a key role
in developing a revolutionary technology, we would be delighted to hear
from you.
We offer a competitive compensation package to successful candidates.
