 Program committee member of the European Conference on Optical Communication
(ECOC) for about 15 years. Program committee member of the Optical Fiber
Communication Conference (OFC), sub-committee chair in 2010, Conference on Lasers
and Electro-Optics (CLEO), several IEEE Topical meetings, etc for many years.
 Published about 400 international peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. Hirsch
index is about 30 (according to Web of Science).
 Main responsible person for numerous research project sponsored by VR (and TFR),
Vinnova, SSF, US Air Force (EOARD), Ericsson AB, European Commission.
 Served twice as an expert evaluator for the Nobel Prize in Physics.
 Associate editor for IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2003 – 2007.
 Acted as external international PhD dissertation examiner for eleven PhD students.
 Panel Evaluator for the European Research Council.

 Leader of Swedish activities in the very successful EU - ACTS project ‘MIDAS’
involving field trials during 1996-1998, including knowledge transfer within EU.
 Helped define executive leadership and activities in a newly established Center for Optical
Technologies (COT) at Lehigh University in the US. The COT is a large scale effort of
approx $30M (250 MSEK) over 5-7 years.
 Responsible for the next generation product definition in a small technology startup
(Cenix Inc.) receiving over USD60M in venture capital funding.
 Co-founder of a (2004) Swedish high-tech T&M company (PicoSolve Inc) acquired by
EXFO Inc (Canada) in 2009.
 Holder of eight patents.
