M
y husband and I have been WorldMark Owners since
2001 and have enjoyed many adventures while staying
in various locations. In early December 2014 my
husband, Paul, and I took my mother, Fay, on a trip to Tasmania
for her 80th birthday. We stayed at Wyndham Vacation Resorts
Asia Pacific Seven Mile Beach, ideally located near Hobart. The
resort’s staff were more than helpful, and extremely friendly.
They accommodated our every request offering excellent
inside information on what we should see while staying. The
deluxe two-bedroom accommodation was superb, with plenty
of room to spread out and where we were able to comfortably
enjoy the resort’s
surroundings after
our outings each day.
WINNING
Letter
Over the next seven
days we visited many
of the highlights of
southern Tasmania.
These were many,
from the visit via
ferry to MONA,
exploring Port Arthur
and Eaglehawk Neck,
walking the Huon
Trail and Air Walk,
investigating the
colonial township
of Richmond, going
out on the boat to
ride the wild waters
off South Bruny Island, shopping in Hobart, excursions to taste
the many beautiful cheeses and wine to watching platypus play
in their natural habitat at Geeveston. Mum thoroughly enjoyed
herself as the opportunity to visit Tasmania had always been a
dream of hers.
The seafood was magnificent, the countryside picturesque, the
coastline wild and rugged and most of all, the Tasmanian people
were very warm and friendly. I recommend to WorldMark
Owners, take the opportunity now, before too many people find
out how wonderful Tasmania really is.

ustralia is a land rich in magnificent landscapes and unique
experiences, but there is nothing like seeing a place through
the eyes of a knowledgeable Indigenous guide. You only have to
walk a few metres into Mossman Gorge before your guide will
have pointed out leaves that can be used as soap because when
rubbed with water they foam up and create a fragrant lather. Your
guide will point out the trees that make the best canoes, show you
which berries are good to eat, which nuts can be lit like a candle
and even leaves and berries that are highly poisonous.

Situated halfway between Melbourne and Phillip Island is a magical
place called Moonlit Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to a number
of breeding programs for endangered species, including spotted-tail
quolls, orange-bellied parrots, sacred kingfishers and many more.
By day you can feed wallabies and tawny frogmouths, pat koalas,
hold owls and cuddle pythons. But it is at night that the park really
comes to life. As the sun sets over the wetland to the chorus of frogs,
ducks and emus, you will be greeted by wallabies and kangaroos,

With 97 kilometres of coastline, Phillip Island is a walker’s paradise. There are
plenty of picturesque walking tracks around the island, but the best are those
that also offer views of the dramatic landscape in the golden hour of twilight.
THE NOBBIES
Victoria’s maritime history tells a poignant tale involving
over 700 shipwrecks off the state’s rocky coastline. One of
Phillip Island’s most well-known shipwrecks is that of SS
Speke, a three-masted steel vessel that ran aground in 1906
on its journey from Peru to Sydney.
The remains of the ship at Kitty Millar Bay are a forlorn
reminder of the once impressive global freighter and at dusk,
the sight is mesmerising. As the light fades and shadows
begin to envelop the wreckage, you will find yourself
face-to-face with one of the island’s best photo opportunities –

Take in the abundant natural beauty of south-western Phillip Island at The
Nobbies, a magnificent headland overlooking Bass Straight. One-and-a-half
kilometres off the coastline you will see a rocky outcrop known as Seal Rocks
– home to Australia’s largest colony of fur seals. Watch these curious creatures
frolic in the shallow water and keep your eyes peeled for other native fauna
including silver gulls and Cape Barren geese.
Cape Woolamai is Phillip Island’s highest point, making it the perfect vantage
point to take in the island’s striking coastline. With unparalleled views of the

past, and the Cape Woolamai Light, this is the ideal spot

FROM PRE-HOLIDAY ANTICIPATION TO POST-HOLIDAY
BLUES AND ALL OF THE ELATION, CULTURE SHOCK AND

EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER.
We’ve put together a handy guide to understanding the emotional
lifecycle of holidays; making it easier for you to pinpoint where you
currently sit on the calendar (because just like the lunar calendar,
holiday-cravings are cyclical) and identify exactly when your next
holiday is due.
3: FINDING YOUR FLASH OF INSPIRATION
Y
ou check your payslip and realise how much
annual leave you’ve managed to squirrel away
and suddenly anything seems possible.
A four-week around-the-world voyage? You have
Privileges membership now…why not?!
You quickly realise that work isn’t so bad at all.
You even find yourself whistling along to
the radio as you’re stuck in the morning

1: OVERDOSING ON THE DAILY GRIND
G
etting up for work in the morning is harder
than usual… not even the smell of freshly-

the benefits of a beach holiday versus

W

it’s high time to head to the shops.
