St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Welcomes Rev. David Eardley The Eardley Family David, Ryan, and Sara The Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce that Bishop Deborah Kiesey has appointed Rev. David Eardley to serve as Senior Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Eardley grew up in Detroit and he and his parents were active members at Mt. Hope UMC. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. He was on a path to become an actuary, but God had other plans, and in 1993 Rev. Eardley completed his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Rev. Eardley’s pastoral appointments have ranged from small rural to large urban congregations. He served as Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Britton, MI; Associate Pastor at First United Methodist in Ann Arbor; Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Bay City; and for the past seven years has been the Pastor at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church. Rev. Eardley has been married to his wife Sara for 14 years and they have an 8-year old son, Ryan, who’s in the 2nd grade. Sara is research director with a business intelligence consulting firm and expects to continue her position, working from Rochester. Rev. Eardley has experience leading both traditional and contemporary worship services and has been recognized for his ability to deliver compelling, thought-provoking sermons. He has been affiliated with churches that have a track record of membership growth and has been very involved with Christian education, mission work, Disciple Bible Study, Stephen Ministries, and the local community. Rev. Eardley is a personal, strategic and cultural fit for St. Paul’s and we couldn’t be more excited about this appointment. Rev. Eardley’s first Sunday with us will be July 7th. In the meantime, Rev. Regan will continue to serve as our Senior Pastor. Rev. Regan’s last Sunday at St. Paul’s will be June 16th. On that day we’ll celebrate one worship service at 10am in the Sanctuary and the Staff Parish Relations Committee will host a reception for Jeff and Linda in Hickey Hall immediately following. We are eternally grateful for Rev. Regan’s guidance, support and graciousness throughout this process and during the upcoming time of transition. Yours in Christ, Tom Talbert, Staff Parish Relations Committee Chairperson St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Rochester
