PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1
3.2
EXISTING WORK
A.
Remove exposed abandoned sound and video cable, including abandoned cable
above accessible ceiling finishes. Cut cable flush with walls and floors, and patch
surfaces.
B.
Maintain access to existing cable connections and other installations remaining
active and requiring access. Modify installation or provide access panel.
C.
Extend existing sound and video circuits using materials and methods compatible
with existing installations, or as specified.
INSTALLATION
A.
Install all wiring in conduit and cables in raceways, except in accessible indoor
ceiling spaces and attics, and as otherwise indicated. Conceal conduit, raceways
and wiring except in unfinished spaces.
B.
Use metal clad cable in accessible indoor ceiling spaces and attics. Install
exposed cable parallel to building lines, follow surface contours, and support the
cable according to manufacturer’s instructions. Do not run adjacent and parallel
to power or other data cables.
C.
Splice cable only in accessible junction boxes or at terminal block units. Tighten
electrical connectors and terminals according to manufacturer’s published
torque-tightening values. If manufacturer’s torque values are not indicated, use
those specified in UL 486A and UL 486B. Make cable shields continuous at
splices and connect circuit shield to equipment ground only at source end.
D.
Use suitable cable fittings and connectors.
E.
Install input circuits in separate cables and raceways from output circuits.
F.
Do not exceed manufacturers recommended pulling tensions. Do not install
bruised, kinked, scored, deformed, or abraded cable. Do not splice cable
between termination, tap, or junction points. Remove and discard cable if
damaged during installation and replace it with new cable.

G.
Bundle, lace, and train conductors to terminal points with no excess and without
exceeding manufacturer’s limitations on bending radii. Provide and use lacing
bars and distribution spools.
H.
When roughing in cable, leave 18 inches excess cable at each termination at
device and other system outlet; and, 6 feet excess cable at each termination at
system cabinet.
I.
Provide protection for exposed cables where subject to damage.
J.
Support cables above accessible ceilings to keep from resting on ceiling tiles.
Install spring metal clips or plastic cable ties to support cables from structure.
Install with bridle rings or drive rings.
K.
Ground and bond circuits in accordance with Sections 16060 and 16825, and
TIA/EIA 607.
