GLORY RIDGE FAMILY & FRIENDS SERVICE DAY!
Join us for Family & Friends Service Day on
Saturday, October 15, 10:00am–2:00pm at Glory
Ridge Camp (Marshall, NC). You will enjoy building
community and serving as family and friends in the
great outdoors! Lunch will be provided. When the
workday is finished, you will have time to explore
Glory Ridge. Children are encouraged to join us,
but should be old enough to help with yard work.

CSI SINGLES DINNER NIGHT OCTOBER 14
CSI, Christian Singles Interacting, will meet for Dinner

BIBLES FOR FIRST PRESBYTERIAN ACADEMY!
Did you know that Bible is part of the curriculum
at First Presbyterian Academy? We have nine new
Middle School students this year and would love to

JOIN OUR DOMINICAN REPUBLIC MISSION TRIP!
Our next mission trip to the Dominican Republic will
be October 15-22. This team will offer a medical
clinic to continue the care that was provided
during the June mission trip. No medical training is
necessary to participate. For information on joining

CDS EGGS BENEFIT OCTOBER 6
The Center for Developmental Services (CDS),
across Academy Street from First Pres, is one
of our mission agencies. You’re invited to the
annual CDS Eggs Benefit breakfast fundraiser on
Thursday, October 6, 7:30–9:00am at the Poinsett
Club in downtown Greenville. For details or to

2016 Eggs Benefit is sponsored by The Children’s

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER SERVICE
A Congregational Prayer Service will be held in
Harper Chapel on Tuesday evening, October 11,
at 6:30pm. Join us as we pray together that God’s
Sovereign hand will protect our nation and give us
wisdom and guidance.
Remember God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“Then if my people who are called by my name will
humble themselves and pray and seek my face and
turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven
and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
Senior Adult Ministry, Stan Johnson
WIT & WISDOM OCTOBER 4
On Tuesday, October 4, Wit & Wisdom will
feature Dr. Braxton Ballew, longtime member of
GSO’s double bass section. In his additional role
as Education Director, Dr. Ballew oversees planning
and implementation of all GSO-sponsored education
initiatives for Greenville County youth. Dr. Ballew
has also given solo and chamber recitals throughout
the southeastern U.S., Italy, and Portugal.
Join us Tuesday, October 4, at 11:30am in
Fellowship Hall. Lunch ($7) will follow at 12:30pm.
Please call Susan Stewart (672.1756) for a lunch
reservation by Thursday, September 29.

The Pastors and Congregation extend blessings to:
Dr. and Mrs. Rupert McCormac IV (Jessica) on the
birth of a daughter, Stella Grace McCormac, on
June 12.
NEW MEMBERS (September 25, 2016)
Miss Judy Beltz: Judy works part time at the Blood
Connection in Piedmont.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Boling (Martha): Dan and Martha
are retired. FPC member Betty Nipper is Dan’s
sister.
Mr. Bradley Carson: Bradley works in sales at Scan
Source in Greenville. He is engaged to Covington
Golden.
Miss Covington Golden: Covington works in sales
at Scan Source in Greenville. She is engaged to
Bradley Carson.
Mrs. Jane Petrilli: Jane is a retired teacher. She served
as a deacon at her church in Wenonah, NJ. Jane is
already participating as a reading buddy at Hollis
Academy Elementary School.
Mr. and Mrs. Corey Phillips, Sr. (Andrea): Corey is
a financial advisor at Edward Jones in Greenville.
Andrea is a physical therapist at Roger C. Peace
Rehab facility. Corey is the cousin of FPC member
Trey Chandler. They have two children, Ava (3
months) and Eason (3).
Mrs. Caroline Sampson: Caroline is a stay-at-home
mom. Her husband, Patrick, plans to join FPC in
November. Their children are Chase (4), Caroline
Elizabeth (2), and Hunter (8 months).
CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY
The Pastors and Congregation extend sympathy to:
Mr. and Mrs. Ewan Sweeney (Becky) in the death of
her grandmother, JoAnn Hasselbeck of New York,
on September 9, and to Iona, Ewan Jr., and Skye
Sweeney in the death of their great-grandmother.
The family of Jane L. Goodman. Mrs. Goodman died
on September 14.
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Douglas, Jr. (Susan) in the death
of his mother, Virginia Clouse Douglas of Rock
Hill, SC, on September 24.

NEW GREEN SPACE IN OUR COURTYARD
You may have noticed the new synthetic turf grass
on the playground between Fellowship Hall and
the Education Building. This installation was made
possible by a generous donation from the Christian
Men’s Fellowship Group and the Academy PTO.
The children of the church and Academy have
greatly enjoyed this upgrade already. Stop by and
admire our new green space!

Come be a part of the Music and Worship Arts Ministry at First Presbyterian
Church. Open Enrollment—NO AUDITION NECESSARY!
Choir: Singers high school age and up, may join the choir in leading worship on
Sunday mornings. No experience required, only a love to sing! All are welcomed.
The ability to read music is not necessary, and we will work with your schedule
to help you be a part of this vibrant, fun, impactful ministry.
We meet on Wednesday evenings, 6:15–7:30pm in the Choir Room.
