High Technology Eaton Williams® has over 50 years of experience in the precision cooling market. This experience has been fed into the FleXaire concept, with critical features fitted as standard. Controls Philosophy Computer rooms and data centres require innovative thinking to minimise the power consumption of the racks, servers and switches being conditioned. One size does not fit all. FleXaire’s control system and software has been designed to give customers the ability to customise the system to their needs. Return air control, supply air control, floor pressure control, rapid dehumidification, networked units and inhouse BMS integration are all available. When combined with proven, tried and tested, energy saving control algorithms, this ensures the ultimate precision control system. Space / Size FleXaire's compact design ensures manoeuvrability into today’s congested cooling spaces and once installed minimises the footprints occupied. Energy FleXaire’s design philosophy minimises energy consumption. This is achieved by combining energy efficient components as standard, with a control philosophy that enables the unit to automatically enact energy saving routines, without impacting on the conditions within the controlled space. 2 CONTROLLER Advanced Controls Platform At the heart of the FleXaire® unit is Eaton-Williams® latest purpose-built controls platform. The 32-bit controller and colour graphical touch screen display offers the very best in reliable, precision control and intuitive, fully featured user interface design. This ensures that whatever the size of data centre space, multiple units will operate together to achieve maximum efficiencies,whilst providing the necessary levels of reliance. Internet Enabled Incorporating an industrial grade TCP/IP communication suite, the controller can be connected to an Ethernet LAN or the Internet, and serve real-time and historic data to standard web browsers. Integration and Visibility Furthermore, NMS integration is possible via the controller’s fully featured SNMP v2c agent. In addition, in-built FTP and TELNET servers provide IT system administrators with yet more ways to remotely monitor and control the environment. Support for the most common standard BMS protocols means that the FleXaire can be easily integrated into various third-party supervisor systems and BMS. As standard, the controller supports: • MODBUS® RTU • MODBUS® IP • LonWorks® • BACnet® IP (available Q3 2013) 3 HIGH TECHNOLOGY AS STANDARD Touch Screen Technology FleXaire‘s control system is optimised for electronic cooling. It uses a touch screen display for intuitive operation, and incorporates full run standby / group control and remote connectivity as standard. Connectivity In today’s complex electronic environments, connectivity with external systems, for both monitoring and control input, is essential. FleXaire‘s control system offers all these features as standard so that integration can be optimised to suit customer requirements. Compact Footprint FleXaire’s design provides the optimal cooling capacity from the minimum footprint.This maximises the available room for electronic racks and provides for ease of installation. Blow Through FleXaire uses a blow through concept to ensure even airflow, compact footprint and reduced noise levels. 4 EC Fans EC fans maximise efficiency of air movement and minimise noise levels. These efficient, backward curved fans are fully speed controllable as standard, enabling the FleXaire® controller to automatically adjust the room airflow to its optimum point. At part load conditions, the EC technology gives significant energy savings over equivalent AC fans. Dual Compressors Dual compressor models incorporate tandem scroll compressors, maximising control and reducing operating costs. This is achieved through superior capacity control and greatly improved part load efficiency, delivering significant energy savings. Cooling Technology FleXaire’s design optimises the cooling cycle and includes the latest generation of evaporator design. The coil has internal, grooved copper tubes to maximise refrigerant flow and heat transfer. Special profile corrugated aluminium fins increase efficiency of heat transfer and have a phenolic coating. This aids the run-off of any condensate, and avoids the forming of water droplets to minimise air resistance through the coil. High Efficiency Hum / Dehum As well as controlling the temperature of the air, FleXaire is optimised to give highly efficient humidity control. In dehumidification mode, the controller automatically modulates the fan to provide the optimum level of dehumidification, whilst limiting unnecessary sensible cooling and reheat.
