educational trend, the university is administered under the credit-based education system in order to facilitate

Academic programs
The School of Biotechnology offers the undergraduate
and graduate programs as follows:

Undergraduate programs
School of Biotechnology
1.1 BSc degree in Biotechnology in one of five tracks
based on elective courses and graduation thesis:
o Molecular Biotechnology
o Biomedical Biotechnology
o Industrial Biotechnology
o Marine Biotechnology and Environment
o Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
1.2 BSc degree in Food Technology
1.3 BSc degree in Aquatic Resource
Currently, the School of Biotechnology is operating
twinning programs with the University of Nottingham
(UK or Malaysian campus) and University of West of
England (UK) and will expand this model with
universities in the US and Australia.
2.
Graduate program
MSc degree in Biotechnology program is the research
study with majors in Biomedical Biotechnology,
Molecular Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology
and Industrial Biotechnology. Duration of the study is 2
years (45 credits). The curriculum has been developed
based on the credit system, ensuring the possibility of
higher studies to PhD degree in other educational
institutions abroad. Students must complete 15 credits
of 2 required courses and 3 elective courses and
publish their research in well-known scientific journals
prior to the defense of their graduation thesis.
Research
 Biotechnology:
new diagnostic methods for tropical
diseases, drug design, genetic engineering in plant
breeding, innovative technologies for microbial
production, utilization of agricultural and fisheries
wastes, pharmaceuticals from marine species, antibiofouling and bioremediation.
 Food
Technology: quality control and improvement,
traceability, advanced processing technologies for
agricultural and food products.
 Aquatic
Resource Management: effects of climate
change on aquatic ecosystems and bio-resources,
enhancement and restoration of valuable natural stocks,
aquatic environment monitoring and management,
advanced aquaculture technologies with focus on feed
production and system design.
Our staff and facilities
Faculty members and staff of the school are
experienced in teaching and doing research, and have
been trained at well-known universities in
USA(Cornell University, University of Michigan,
University of Utah), UK (Nottingham University,
University of West of England, Open University),
Australia (University of New South Wales, Griffith
University), Japan (Hiroshima University, Osaka
Prefecture University) and the equivalents in Europe,
India, Singapore and Korea. Teaching and research
performance of our faculty members and staff have
been recognized by a number of international and
national awards.
The laboratory system includes seven modern labs:
Fundamental Biotech, Molecular Biomedicine, Applied
Biochemistry, Food Technology, Applied Hydrobiology,
Computational Biology and Marine Biotech that can
meet the requirements for quality training and basic
research. Through strong collaborations with national
and international partners, we implement advanced
research and continue to expand our research
facilities.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
They use textbooks from popular world publishers in
both undergraduate and graduate programs. Students
have the opportunity to study in a dynamic
environment, with advanced training methods and
comfortable facilities, including a modern business
simulation lab.

The academic programs are delivered by local and
international lecturers who have obtained degrees from
prestigious universities around the world. The faculties
designed academic programs in accordance with those
of well-known international universities such as
University of Houston (US), University of New South
Wales (Australia), University of Nottingham (UK), and
others.

After graduation, the students of the School of
Business can begin with positions of as management
trainees in foreign businesses, multinational
companies, large domestic corporations or as
specialists in the areas of their own expertise such as
finance, accounting, banking, marketing, securities
trading, market research, production management,
quality management, and logistics. Recent graduates
have secured jobs in renowned organizations such as
HSBC, ANZ, Unilever, KPMG, Deloitte Touche
Tohmasu, Ernst & Young, Intel, Nokia, AC Nielsen, and
Ogilvy & Mather. Graduates can also gradually take
over family businesses, or start on their own by
forming joint stock companies to realize their business
ideas and strategies.
Research orientation
To improve research activities to better serve training
objectives as well as provide more efficient business
assistance, the school has set its sights on the

LIVING COST

For Exchange students, you should expect to pay at least USD 3,000 (or EUR 2,386) per semester for
living costs in Vietnam, including housing, meals, textbooks, additional materials, student’s activities
and other personal expenses.

For ISEP-Exchange students (exclusive of ISEP-Direct student), room and board costs will be waived by
IU according to the agreement with ISEP.

Upon acceptance to the program, you will be
provided an account that gives you access to
university’s e-mail, MyIU website (including course
registration, time table, exam schedule, student
scores) and blackboard. Computing facilities at IU
Student Support
provide free online access.
IU also offers an airport transfer service for new
international students at a reasonable rate.
You will be picked up at Tan Son Nhat
International Airport and transported directly to
your accommodation destination. You have to
complete the Airport Pick-Up Request form at least
3 working-days before your arrival.
The Orientation Program will provide practical
advice on safety, student health care, student union
activities and study preparation.
