traditional wrought iron works that will participate in the exhibition called "PRIMA LINEA", designed and
producedbyartisans,artmasters,handicraftfirmsandself-productiondesigners.

REGULATION
PRIMA LINEA - International Wrought Iron Prize is an initiative that wishes to commemorate the
Centenary of the First World War. It is a tribute to the art of wrought iron, its artists and the town of
VittorioVenetoasasymbolofthislandmarkevent.
This Prize is an annual event, lasting four years, in reference to the years of the First World War (19151918).
Thiscallisvalidforthe2016edition.
Art.1 SUBJECT-MATTEROFTHEREGULATION
Thiscallrelatestotheselectionandthesubsequentawardoforiginalcontemporaryortraditionalwrought
iron works that are inspired by the theme set for this year, i.e., "Beyond Boundaries… The Wounds and
WallsbetweenMindandSoul,"drawingontheeventsthattookplacein1916,whentrenchwarfarebegan.
Thethememustnotexpresslyrefertotheeventsthattookplaceinthesecondyearofthewar:itshouldbe
revisitedconceptuallyintheworks,withevocative,abstract,symbolicorironicinterpretations.
The works will be preselected on the basis of the projects submitted by the artists, designers and art
masters. Once completed, the selected works will be put on display at a "show" that will be held at a
prestigiouslocation,and,asa"collection,"willbepresentedandpromotedonseveralpublicoccasions.
The projects entered may also be the result of the collaboration of one or more handicraft firms with
designersordesignfirms(workinggroups).
Artists,artmastersanddesignersmustbebasedinoneofthecountriesinvolvedinthesecondyearofthe
FirstWorldWarandregisteredinaprofessionalrollorassociation.
TheOrganizersappreciateandencouragegroups,includingamongcraftsmenanddesigners.
Eachfirmordesignercanenteronlyoneproject.
The initiative is designed to create a new image of the art of wrought iron: creations with special
techniques,innovativeandexquisitestyles,whethercontemporaryortraditional,aswellasunconventional
reinterpretationsofclassicdesigns,areappreciated.
The projects entered must be original and the work can be realized using any technique (including
traditionalprocesses).
Designworkscanalsobeentered:inthiscasetheobjectsmustbefunctional(i.e.,haveafunctionandnot
bemadesolelyforaestheticpurposes),sellableandreproducibleevenifinsmallseries.
Boththeworksanddesignobjectscanbesingleorcomposedofmultipleitems.Eachobjectmustbearthe
logo of the "Prima Linea 2016" initiative, the identifying elements of the participants (craftsman and/or
designer)andtheserialnumber(forobjectsofdesign).
Theselectedworksandobjectswillbepartofthe"PRIMALINEA1916-2016"collection.Thecollectionwill
bepresentedtothemediainashow,acatalogue,awebsiteandagroupexposition.Iftheconditionsarein
place,thecollectionwillalsobeexhibitedatgalleries,specialtyshopsandothereventsorlocationsinItaly
andabroad.
ConfartigianatoVittorioVenetowillensureappropriatevisibilityfortheparticipatingartists.Theworkscan
besoldtothepublic.
During the exhibition, the works may be voted by the public and will be judged by an institutional jury,
composedofprofessionals,representativesofinstitutionsandarthistorians.

DependingonthetypesofworksenteredtheOrganizersmaydecidetoawardotherprizes.
Art.2 TARGETPARTICIPANTS
Participationisopentoallartists,artisans,handicraftfirmsandself-productiondesignersaslongasthey
arebasedinoneofthecountriesinvolvedintheFirstWorldWar.
For the 2016 edition the countries are: Serbia, Russia, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Montenegro, Italy,
Austria,Hungary,Germany,countriesthatoncebelongedtotheformerOttomanEmpire,Bulgaria,Japan,
PortugalandRomania.
Inthecaseofworkinggroups,aprojectcontactmustbeindicatedwhowillberesponsibleforallrelations
withtheOrganizers.
Art.3 PHASESOFTHEINITIATIVE
Theinitiativeisdividedintofivephases.Theaimistoaccompanytheinitiativebycreatingaconstructive,
cognitivepathwaycapableofcreatinga"commonlanguage"betweenenterprisesanddesigners.

The"expressionofinterest"(AnnexA),togetherwiththeotherannexes,mustbesentnolaterthan
30June2016byregisteredletterwithacknowledgementofreceiptwiththefollowingaddress:

Thedocumentationsentafterthedeadlinewillnotbetakenintoaccount.
Thesubmissionoftheexpressionofinterestisnotbindingfortheapplicant.
The following must be attached to the "expression of interest" document (Annex A) duly filled out and
signed:
a. Professional profile of the applicant (in digital format, max 1500 characters), description of the
workinggroup(ifalreadysetup)specifyingthereasonsthatledtothecollaboration;
b. Photobook(preferablyindigitalformat)ofpriorcreations(portfolioof3/5pages).
c. Listofanyawards
d. Projectdescription(ANNEXB)specifyingthereasonsforthestylisticchoices,thetechniquesused,
size,needsforinstallation,etc.;
e. Graphicrepresentationsoftheproject(e.g.:drawings,renderings,videos,photographs,etc.);
f. OthermaterialinstrumentaltotheJurytounderstandtheproject.

The Organizers of the initiative shall evaluate the suitability of the projects selecting the most deserving
ones that will be realized to make up the Collection "PRIMA LINEA 1916-2016." The selection will be
conductedusingthefollowingcriteria:

Theselectedartists,craftsmenanddesignersshallsubmitacountersignedcopyofthefollowingcallby1
September2016foracknowledgement,approvalandacceptanceofparticipationintheinitiative.Theentry
willbecancelledwithoutthiscountersigneddocument.
If the projects submitted are not fitting to represent qualitatively or quantitatively the theme of the
initiative,theOrganizersreservetherighttointegratetheCollectionconsideringotherprojectproposals.
Art.7REALIZATIONOFTHEWORKS(phase3)
Theartists,craftsmenanddesignersselectedtoparticipateintheinitiativeshallprovidetheOrganizersby
30September2016(bypostore-mail)withthefollowingmaterials:
a. Photoportraitoftheworkinggroupindigitalformat(minimum300dpi,10x15cm,.jpegor.tiff,no
passportphoto)
b. Companylogoinhigh-resolutionjpegorvectorformat
c. 2/3professionalphotosoftheobject(preferablyagainstaneutralbackground)in.jpegor.tiff(in
highandlowresolution).Eachphotomustbefreeofrightsandincludeastatementofthephoto
credit;
d. Technicalsheetoftheobject(AnnexC);

Art.11 SALEOFTHEOBJECTS
Therealizedobjectsremainthepropertyoftheauthors.Iftheobjectsitemsaresold,theOrganizersshall
be paid 20% of the retail price (including VAT). It is understood that the works awarded in the various
sectionswillremainpropertyofCONFARTIGIANATOVITTORIOVENETO.
Any collaboration between craftsmen and designers will be governed by a design contract which aims to
give the firm the opportunity to commercially exploit the realized product by granting royalties to the
designer.
In the event that the Organizers exhibit the works or objects individually or collectively at other events,
they will be accompanied by a notice bearing the name of the author/artist, title and wording "Work
selectedbyPRIMALINEA2016-InternationalBlacksmithingArtPrize."
Art.12 RESPONSIBILITYANDINSURANCE
Theartists,craftsmenanddesigners,eitherindividualoringroup,shallundertakeanyandallresponsibility
fortheoriginalityoftheirworks.
ParticipantsareresponsiblefortheworksuntiltheirdeliverytotheOrganizers.Iftheworksaredamagedat
theirreceipt,theywillnotbeputondisplay,orrefunded.
TheOrganizers,inturn,shallberesponsiblefortheworksasofreceiptofthedelivery.Iftheinstallationof
a piece is difficult or delicate, the artist/craftsman or the submitting group must collaborate in the
assembly/disassembly.TheOrganizersshalltakeoutinsuranceagainstanydamagesufferedbytheobjects
intheCollectionwhensettinguptheshow,whenclosingtheshowandduringstorage.

Art.13 PROPERTYRIGHTSandRIGHTSTOUSE
AllparticipantsauthorizetheOrganizersofthePRIMALINEAPrizetodisplaytheirprojectsandobjectsin
publicevents.AllparticipantsalsoauthorizetheOrganizersofPRIMALINEAtopublishtheirprojectsina
catalogue,bookand/orinspecialistmedia;shouldthisoccur,nothingwillbedue,apartfromtheobligation
tocitetheauthor(s).
Theparticipantswhoarenotselectedareentitledtorequest,inwritingandwithin15daysfromthethe
communication of the results, that their work not be made public. In this case these participants must
arrangewiththeOrganizersforthewithdrawalofthegraphicrepresentationsby1September2016.Once
this fiduciary deadline has elapsed, the Organizers are implicitly authorized to discard the graphic
representationstillintheirpossession.
TheOrganizersofPRIMALINEAagreetousetheselectedworksandobjectssolelyforthepurposessetout
inthiscall.
Theintellectualand/orindustrialpropertyoftheprojectsorobjectsparticipatinginthePRIMALINEAPrize
shall remain with the participating author or working group (or one of the members, if specified). In
particular,applicantsensurethattheprojectdoesnotinfringeanyintellectualpropertyrightsand/orany
otherrightsofthirdpartiesandthattherearenorightsofthirdpartiestoitthatmayinsomewaylimitor
affectuse,expositionand/orpublicationby"PRIMALINEA."Inanycase,theapplicantagreestoindemnify
and hold "PRIMA LINEA" safe from any request and/or claim made or proposed by anyone exempting
"PRIMALINEA"fromanyliability.
The Organizers accept no responsibility for improper and unauthorized use by the participants of logos,
trademarksandpatentsregisteredbyathirdparty.
TheOrganizersrecommend,forthepurposeofpromotionandcommunicationofthiscallandoftheentire
project,todeterminetheownership(orco-ownership)ofintellectualand/orindustrialpropertyrightsby
theapplicant.
The applicants are entitled to protect their work in advance by registration or patent applications. In the
case of collaboration with a designer, the latter shall be named "author of the work" and the
craftsman/artist "trustee"; the patenting costs shall be borne by the latter who can then commercially
exploitthework.
Art14 OBLIGATIONSOFPARTICIPANTS
ParticipationinPRIMALINEA-InternationalBlacksmithingArtPrizeimpliesunconditionalacceptanceofall
the obligations contained in this Regulation. All matters not provided for in this regulation shall be
governedbythelawsandregulationsinforce.

This Regulation and all information concerning the initiatives are published on the official website of the
PRIMALINEAinitiative-InternationalBlacksmithingArtPrize:www.premioprimalinea.com
Art16 PERSONALDATAPROCESSINGINFORMATIONNOTICE
IncompliancewiththeprovisionsofItalianregulationsinLegislativeDecreeno.196of30June2003and
subsequent amendments, personal data provided by the participants or collected for PRIMA LINEA –
Premio Internazionale d’Arte Fabbrile shall be processed solely for the purposes of managing the project
andthenfortheproceduresrelatingtothemanagementoftherelationship.Processingwillbecarriedout
bothwithhardcopyandcomputermeanstoensuresecurityandconfidentiality.BysigningthisRegulation

Datasubjectsareentitledtotherightssetoutintheabove-mentioneddecree,includingtherightofaccess
todataconcerningthem,therighttorequestfortheirupdate,correctionor,whentheyhaveinterest,the
integration,erasure,anonymizationorblockingofdatainviolationoflaw,andtorejecttheirprocessingfor
legitimatereasons.
