RINGS
• Ceramic magnets are made from strontium and iron oxide
powders, and are hard, brittle and lighter than metal alloy
magnets.
• Ceramic magnets have a high electrical resistance.
• Ceramic 1 is non–oriented and is weaker than the oriented
grades 5 and 8.
• Machining of ceramic magnets must be done with a
diamond wheel, and is easier when done prior to
magnetization.
The following is a list of popular stock sizes, all of which are
magnetized PARALLEL TO THICKNESS unless otherwise
specified.

Ceramic Magnet Assemblies
The Specialty Products 1100 Series is a ceramic permanent
magnet assembly using the highest quality Barium Ferrite
magnet material. This material cannot be drilled or tapped.
Any alterations to the magnet material must be done by
diamond cutting operations. Special assemblies may be
ordered if the standard assembly does not meet the customer’s
requirements.
Drilling, tapping or changing the standard assembly in any
way will reduce the holding values listed.
When ordering special assemblies, specify the diameter,
length, or design change required. Allow one week to ten days
for manufacturing. Standard assemblies are carried in a
continuous ready supply.
Holding values shown have been tested for direct pull from 1–
inch thick ground surface mild steel plate. When using these
magnets on oily, irregular, rough, rusty or painted surfaces or
on thin gauge sheet metal, holding values will be aerated.
Consult factory for use under these circumstances.

FERROSWEEP
FERROsweep is one of the most versatile magnetic tools
you’ll ever come across! This permanent magnetic sweeper is
ideal for picking up small ferrous parts, such as nails, staples,
bolts, screws, iron and steel parts, etc. from factory aisles, in
and around work areas, drives and walkways. It’s also ideal
for rolling over lawns and gardens where dangerous nails and
pieces of wire may be hidden.
Light in weight and easy to handle, you’re bound to find
many, many uses for this versatile tool with a magnetic
element guaranteed never to lose its strength.
By simply unscrewing the conversion eye from the handle and
screwing it into the tapped hole at the end of the magnetic
element, you’ve converted the sweeper into a handy search
and recovery tool. This is ideal for recovering ferrous articles
lost in inaccessible areas between machines, etc. In this form,
the little tool is ideal for collecting parts, for testing, as a
coolant cleaner, as a small batch cleaner and as an underwater
recovery magnet.
The FERROsweep is constructed with a powerful ERIUM
permanent magnetic element in an aluminum trough supported
and moved around on two rubber wheels. The FERROsweep
comes complete with a 42–inch long aluminum handle.
To clean unwanted tramp iron from the FERROsweep’s
collection trough, simply lift the magnetic element from the
trough. This breaks the magnetic field and releases all
accumulated iron contamination.

Permanent Magnetic Lifts and Battery Lifts
This safe, permanent magnetic lifting device is lightweight
per pound of lifting capacity. Easily portable for use indoors
or outdoors. Perfected to handle smooth-surfaced, heavy, solid
ferrous blocks.
PERMANENT MAGNET LIFTS
Safe practice in use of magnetic lifts dictates that maximum
working load be no more than half the test load. These
magnets have been load tested at twice the safe working load
shown in table.
The M-2000 has a strong aluminum housing one inch thick
on all four sides. The cam assembly, bolted to the housing
is all steel.
DIMENSION - Inches
There is never a power failure with lifts. Because permanent
magnets supply the lifting force, they are always ready to go
to work. Never any loss of power. Never need remagnetizing.
Not dependent upon outside power source.

Liquid Line Filters
Trap the iron that damages your tools.
MODEL MF-1
Specialty Products permanent magnet filters reduce tool and
workplace damage caused by ferrous metal chips, filings, and
dust which get into coolant systems during burnishing,
drilling, milling, grinding, broaching and other machining
operations.
Installed on the return line, they prevent ferrous particles from
flowing into reservoir and back to the workpiece. Less
downtime due to tool breakage. More work hours between
tool reconditionings.
The superior design and construction of these filters assures
success. The magnets are of highest quality and never lose
their power. There are no moving parts. Once installed in the
coolant or lubricating system, no maintenance is required,
except an occasional, quick, simple cleaning.
Standard housing is aluminum, however, the model MF-2 is
also available with stainless steel housing. Cleaning sleeve
assembly and tubes enclosing the magnets are stainless steel
and never need replacing.

SMALL BI-POLAR
ELECTROMAGNETS - 12VDC
For this reason, they perform better than equivalent flat–face
magnets when operating through an air gap or any type of non–
magnetic material between the workpiece and the magnet.
The magnetic field of bi–polar magnets have a greater “reach–
out” than that of flat–faced electromagnets.
Bi–polars, due to their two extended poles, are designed to
handle round parts, parts with uneven surfaces, and odd
shaped parts. Contoured, auxiliary pole shoes can be added
for better contact with the workpiece.

Magnetic Rails
MAGNETIC RAILS
hard to describe the many and varied jobs they do. They are
used as door closets, in automatic spray booths, to hold parts on
conveyors, as handy racks for holding tools at machines, etc.
The rails are constructed with powerful lifetime ceramic
magnet material secured with epoxy into a U–shaped steel
channel. They are drilled and counterbored at each end (or at
each end and in the middle, depending upon length) to accept
a 1/4" diameter fastener. Depending upon the application,
these versatile magnetic units could also be held in position
with various types of adhesives.
Whenever magnetic power is needed for holding metal in any
form and tolerances are not critical, these permanent Magnetic
Rails should be considered. Their general utility value makes it
All rails are 1-3/8" wide x 9/16" high (35 x 14 mm). Standard
lengths are 19" (483 mm) and 60" (1524 mm), but these
dimensions can be cut to any shorter lengths desired. Their
holding power is 6.5 pounds (3 kg) per inch (25 mm).
PERMANENT MAGNETIC
CHUCK REPAIR
Specialty Products Division offers a permanent magnetic
chuck repair service for users of workholding devices.
Frequent use can weaken the magnetic strength of a chuck
through misalignment of internal moving parts or through
nicks and scratches on the chuck face. Occasionally, a cutting
tool may even impinge on the holding surface of the chuck.
Don’t despair. Perhaps your chuck may be able to be repaired.
Restore Vitality to Your Magnetic Workholding Devices.
Your chuck will be opened and inspected by a trained Eriez
magnet technician in order to quote on any necessary repairs.
Then, Specialty Products will overhaul and remagnetize your
damaged permanent magnetic chuck, using factory–new
replacement parts when available. Lubrication, re–assembly
and inspection are the final steps before returning your chuck
in its best possible condition.
Contact the Specialty Products Division for further details.
