MAKING MODERN LIVING POSSIBLE SOLAR INVERTERS Installation Guide Sensor Interface Option FLX series www.danfoss.com/solar Safety Safety WARNING Safety Message Types WARNING Warning with symbol is used to indicate potentially hazardous situations, which can cause serious injury or death. This information is important for human safety. CAUTION Caution with symbol is used for indicating potentially hazardous situations that can cause minor or moderate injuries. Disconnecting the inverter Before starting work on the inverter, switch off AC at the mains switch and PV using the PV load switch. Ensure that the device cannot be unintentionally reconnected. Use a voltage tester to ensure that the unit is disconnected and voltage free. The inverter can still be charged with very high voltage at hazardous levels even when it is disconnected from AC grid and solar modules. Wait at least 8 minutes following disconnection from grid and PV panels before proceeding. For safe disconnection of DC current, turn off the PV load switch (1). 160AA001.10 CAUTION Caution without symbol is used for indicating situations that may result in equipment or property damage. NOTE Note is used for indicating highlighted information that should be regarded with attention. General Safety 1 All persons installing and servicing inverters must be: • Trained and experienced in general safety rules for work on electrical equipment • Familiar with local requirements, rules and regulations for the installation CAUTION NOTE Before installation Check for damage to equipment and packaging. If in doubt, contact the supplier before commencing installation. CAUTION Installation For optimum safety, follow the steps described in this document. Keep in mind that the inverter has two voltage carrying sides; the PV input and the AC grid. Maintenance and modification Only authorised personnel are permitted to modify the inverter. To ensure personal safety, use only original spare parts available from the supplier. If non-original spare parts are used, compliance with CE guidelines in respect of electrical safety, EMC and machine safety is not guaranteed. The temperature of the cooling racks and components inside the inverter can exceed 70ºC. Observe the danger of burn injury. DC voltages up to 1000 V are present in a PV system even when the inverter is disconnected from the AC grid. Faults or inappropriate use may lead to electric arcing. Before installation, have the following ready: • • To ensure EMC compliance, apply shielded cables for sensor inputs. Other auxiliary cables must pass through the designated EMC cable clamps to establish mechanical fixing and in case of shielded cable termination to the shielding device. Sensor Interface Option (1) Manual 1 160AA032.10 1 1 Installation CAUTION Do not penetrate or open the housing of the option. Opening or penetration may result in equipment damage. 1.1 Installation To install the option: 1. On the inverter, open the cover of the installation area. 2. Insert the Sensor Interface Option into one of the two option slots; option slot 1 or option slot 2, see Illustration 1.2. Fasten with a ‘click’ on both sides of the option. 3. Note the calibration value of the irradiation sensor (mV/1000 W/m2) for later use. 4. Connect sensor wires, see Illustration 1.3. See also CLX Sensor Kit Installation Guide or sensor manufacturer’s guidelines. 5. Fasten wires with cable tie. Illustration 1.1 Scope of Delivery - Sensor Interface Option WARNING Before starting work on the inverter, switch off AC at the mains switch and PV using the PV load switch. Before proceeding wait at least 8 minutes after disconnection from grid and PV panels, until the inverter has completely discharged. Failure to switch off AC and PV and wait for discharge may result in personal injury. The inverter will only detect the option, when the option is installed in an unpowered state. CAUTION To ensure fulfilment of IP enclosure rating, correctly mounted cable glands are essential for all peripheral cables. 2 L00410607-01_02 160AA018.10 Installation GSM SIM Card RELAY (NO) SO+ SO- IR+ IR- TEMP IR. Ensure that the cover is correctly fastened. 2. Turn on PV and AC connection. 3. Verify that the option is detected. Refer to 2.1.1 Verification via Display. L00410607-01_02 Setup 2 Setup - Disconnect PV and AC, and open the cover to the inverter installation area as described in 1.1 Installation. - Check the option is pushed completely into place and sits firmly with no movement. - Repeat steps 1 to 3. - If the message ‘Required option is not installed’ still appears, contact hotline. 2.1 Prepare for Setup 2.1.1 Verification via Display Verify that the option is detected. 1. Turn on PV and AC connection. 2. In the display, go to [Setup → Calibration]. 3. If the sub-menu “Irradiation sensor”,” Temp sensor offset” or “S0 sensor input” is listed, then this confirms the option is installed correctly. 4. If none of these sub-menus are listed, then the option is not installed correctly. Actions: - Disconnect PV and AC, and open the cover to the inverter installation area as described in 1.1 Installation. - Check the option is pushed completely into place and sits firmly with no movement. - Repeat steps 1 to 3. - If the sub-menus are still not visible, contact hotline. 2.1.2 Verification via Web Interface 2.2 Setup via Display or Web Interface To set up the sensors ready for operation, 1. In the display, go to [Setup → Calibration → Irradiation sensor], [Setup → Calibration → Temp sensor offset], and [Setup → Calibration → S0 sensor input] 2.
