It uses a high-sensitivity algorithm to simultaneously measure 16,384 channels at a frequency spacing of 61 kHz. Unlike a spectrum analyzer that sweeps the measurement frequency over time (allowing transient signals to be overlooked), the wideband spectrometer continuously measures the input signal with no time or frequency gaps. The SpectroCore processor continuously analyzes the input signal in real-time and accumulates the power spectrum results to eliminate any time gaps in measurements. Users can choose from two spectral analysis engines: a standard FFT or a 4-tap Polyphase Filter Bank. The 32kpoint FFT engine is based upon recent advancements in high throughput, pipelined, parallel FFT architectures, designed to efficiently utilize hardware resources allowing improved accuracy, higher dynamic range and reduced power consumption. The Polyphase Filter Bank engine improves sensitivity, spectral leakage and scalloping loss by using an analysis window several times longer than the FFT window. Channel Accumulation Measurement Data The power spectral density (PSD) of the input signal is computed and accumulated separately for each spectral line. Power can be accumulated on-board for over 1 minute, freeing up the host processor and PCI bandwidth to perform post-processing or other functions. DSPlogic’s real-time SpectroCore processor uses a combination of floating-point and fixed-point hardware processing to improve accuracy while efficiently using resources. The wideband spectrometer also doubles as a highperformance 2 GSPS digitizer with 12-bit resolution. The DFS-2000 has a PCI Express 2.0 full-length form factor. It occupies a single x8 slot in a host PC and communicates via a high-speed PCIe 2.0 interface. A complete Spectral analysis GUI is included to get customers up and running quickly while demonstrating use of the drivers that can be used for custom application development. The demonstration software is capable of visualizing spectral data in real time while logging data in HDF5 file format.
