Project Engineer: Performed general project engineering duties with an emphasis on solution based collaboration with Architect/Engineering professionals. Organized project documentation, submittals and RFI’s for expedited project delivery, client review process, and project close out. Commissioning Engineer: Authored functional performance tests, equipment tests, and cross system functional tests for local jurisdictional approvals and improving system reliability and efficiency. Planned and coordinated start up and commissioning programs for a multitude of building, production, and specialty systems. Knowledgeable on a broad spectrum of testing procedures and documentation of work, and is accustomed to working within sensitive, occupied hospitals and occupied buildings. Safety Incident Prevention Manager: Instituted new Incident Prevention Program at largest construction project in USA at the time (Intel Fab 11) which became the template for all future programs for Hoffman Construction Corp. Sales and Marketing: Representing Hoffman as an articulate communicator, made marketing presentations speaking at client interviews. Mechanical Project Manager/Mechanical Estimator: performed HVAC Design, pre-construction estimates, bid and negotiated subcontracts, organized crews, procured materials and supervised installations of Plan and Specification and Design Build Mechanical systems. HVAC Service Manager: Managed Service department for a major San Francisco based HVAC contractor productivity and profitability. Managed department with 10 Service Techs and support staff in which service department sales and profits increased. In addition, marketed and managed new construction and service sales of HVAC replaceme nt systems including design build applications ranging from the smallest replacement to large scale entire building design and replacement of HVAC systems. Performed energy retrofit audits and replacement of systems for energy payback. Software Programs: Familiar with Micro-Soft products (excel, word, Microsoft Project etc.), Adobe PDF mark-up tools, Navisworks 3D, Prolog Project Manager. 1993-2013: Project Manager/Superintendent/Project Engineer/Cx Engineer: Hoffman Construction Corporation Bay Area Hospital, Coos Bay Oregon 2012-2013 50 Million Dollar New Intensive Care Hospital Addition Responsible as MEP Project Superintendent and Commissioning Agent. Wrote and performed all commissioning testing and engaged Owner in coordinating Owner specialty X-Ray Analysis Equipment installation. Accomplished all testing certifications and Certificates of Occupancy as per original schedule date requirements. Personal Key Accomplishments: redesigned Fuel Oil System to achieve full functionality and redundant operation. Redesigned Elevator Smoke Control system to achieve full functionality and system certification. Intel D1X, Hillsboro Oregon 2011-2012 1 Billion Dollar New Semi-Conductor Facility Responsible for System Lead MEP Project Manager for expansion of Cub3, New Boiler Building, New Process Utility Building, and New Emergency Generator Building. Performed detailed scheduling analysis for new construction and commissioning activities, procured specialized pre-purchased MEP equipment, procured negotiated major subcontracts with MEP contractors. Personal Key Accomplishments: Met all milestone dates for construction and Startup. As commented by Intel Project Management that “Mark Anderson” set the example for Hoffman Construction during start up and commissionin g activities. University of Oregon Mathew Knight Arena: 2009-2011 200 million dollar new multi-use Sports Arena Performed Lead MEP Engineer responsible for all Mechanical, Electrical, and Life Safety Systems and developed and performed Commissioning procedures and testing. Was extensively involved from underground construction activities up through final commissioning of project. Personal Key Accomplishments: The Project had three major deficiencies: the specified chilled water piping materials did not meet actual running pressure conditions, there was an omission of a 12,000volt incoming power switch on switchgear lineup, the Smoke Control System would not pass testing just prior to Occupancy/Opening night. Regarding the Chilled water issue; designed and installed new Chilled Water to Chilled Water plate and frame heat exchanger to allow downstream side of CHW to run at lower pressure thereby saving and preserving 3-months of installed work from demolition and rework. Regarding the power switch; was able to re-feed incoming power to alternate location to a vacuum switch then back into Arena thereby preserving equipment lineups and installed systems. Regarding Smoke Control testing; was able to re sequence damper controls in non-conventional manner but acceptable exhaust flows to satisfaction of Local Jurisdiction and Testing Authorities. PDX Inline Baggage System Upgrade: 2007-2009 120 Million Dollar Baggage System Upgrade Performed Lead Project Engineering role on highly specialized Baggage System upgrade to meet latest TSA Security requirements. Project included installing new conveyor and EDS (explosive detection system) detection equipment into an existing Airport while maintaining existing airport operations without interruption. Use of 3D modeling was ex tensive to locate existing utilities for relocation and space allocation. Personal Key Accomplishments: Provided pre-construction analysis of various systems to determine most cost effective selection. This was done via touring other facilities and taking best of various systems for a combined system using variable frequency drives, floor mounted system technology (as opposed to belt and sheave and overhead supported systems). Re-routed conveyor design to save additional costs in demolition and replacement work. IMFT Salt Lake City, Utah (Intel Micro Flash Technologies): 600 Million Dollar Semi-Conductor Plant Upgrade 2005-2007 Performed Project Management role for Civil, Structural, Architectural scope for major remodel of existing high tech semi conductor facility. Personal Key Accomplishments: Without the benefit of a completed design was able to procure key elements into fabrication to meet aggressive scheduling milestones. Provided on the fly design of steel elements and fire life safety elements to continue work progress on schedule. Re-structured subcontracts and reorganized work forces to meet schedule deadlines. I managed the most profitable project in UMEC’s history at that time which was Marathon Plaza State Court project. This was done by maintaining a good and economical design at the same time engaging in skilled negotiations with GC/Building Owners and good construction management techniques. 1984-1988: Service Manager Atlas Heating & Ventilating (a prominent San Francisco Heating and Air Conditioning contractor) I landed one of their largest accounts (S.F. Jewelry Center) by being a good detective and finding a hidden problem within the client’s packaged HVAC unit and correcting it. The Air Conditioning Manufacturer had miss -specified and installed an incorrect water regulating valve causing nuisance tripping of the main equipment. I engaged the Manufacture r’s regional service manager and the problem was agreed and replaced at no cost to the Owner which the Owner awarded Atlas a contract.
