ENGT 116 - BLUEPRINT READING FOR MACHINE TRADES - 2 UNITS Prerequisite: None (Formerly ENGT 16) This course prepares students to visualize and interpret mechanical working drawings. It emphasizes standards, specifications, procedures, bulletins, and techniques involved in the shop drawing system. ENGT 153 - MACHINE DESIGN/DSN WITH AutoCAD - 3 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 138 or ARCH 123 with grade of Credit or "C" or higher or 1 year high school mechanical drawing or work experience. This is a machine design including detail and assembly working drawings, welding symbols, applications of Dimensioning theory, gears, cams, and basic mechanisms. Transfer Credit: CSU DRFT 160 - AutoDESK MAP 3D - 4 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 138 or ARCH 123 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or "C" or higher or verifiable work experience. This course introduces students to Autodesk Map software which delivers all the power, fluency, and connectivity of the software. Content will include analysis and productivity tools to create, maintain, and produce maps in a percise graphical environment. Students will use Autodesk Map software features to enhance productivity of comprehensive automated mapping tools built in for engineers, planners, utility managers, and anyone who creates and maintains maps. ENGT 237 - GRAPHICAL STATICS & STRENGTH OF MATERIALS - 3 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 138 OR ARCH 123 with grade of Credit or "C" or higher or equivalent or verifiable work experience. This is a course in the fundamental principles of graphical statics and strength of materials and their applications to the solutions of typical force systems and equilibrium problems. Applications are made in the field of design, tool engineering and similar areas using elementary algebra and right angle trigonometry in problem solving. This course will assist students in creating advanced applications of solid modeling and applying shading and rendering techniques utilizing Autodesk Viz. They will use the software for basic theory as well as application in their particular fields. This course will assist students in creating 3-dimensional parametric part modeling, assembly modeling and surface modeling designs. This course is a study of modern techniques of design, production, and operation including process materials selection. Planning, Scheduling and cost performance are used to implement design solutions. Basic necessary calculations are used to establish safetymargins and performance criteria. Transfer Credit: CSU ENGT 259 - SOLIDWORKS - 4 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 138 or ARCH 123 grade of credit "C" or higher or equivalent or verifiable work experience. This course assists students in creating three-dimensional (3-D) parametric part modeling, assembly modeling, surface modeling, and bill of materials. Students receive instruction utilizing the most recent of SolidWorks software. ENGT 265 - CATIA I - 4 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 138 or ARCH 123 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or "C" or higher, or appropriate work experience. This course focuses on the CATIA CAD\CAM system (CATIA is a registered trademark of Dassault Systems), highlighting system structure and 3-D geometry creation and manipulation. Based on wire frame profiles created on sketch planes, 3-D parametric solid models are produced. Also covered is the use of parts for assembly modeling, creation of working drawings, and bill of material for engineering design industry. (The latest software release of CATIA is used). ENGT 266 - CATIA II - 4 UNITS Prerequisite: ENGT 256 or equivalent with a grade of Credit or "C" or higher, or appropriate work experience. This course deals with advance application of CATIA, SUCH as generative sheet metal design, assembly analysis, generative stress analysis, design and creation of complex parts and assemblies, and surface modeling and lofting for computer-aided engineering (CAE) function.
