The finish and its’ advantages come standard on all our coated (formerly painted) products, providing superior protection at no extra cost. Epoxy powder coat products last longer, thus reducing callbacks, lowering total installation and operation costs. The Advantages: Independent Testing: An independent laboratory tested Appleton’s Epoxy Powder Coat Finish against competitive product finishes. The test results show that our powder-coat finish has more than twice the corrosion resistance than our previous paint finish. It also showed that our powder-coat finish has almost three times the corrosion resistance as some of our competitions’ standard paint finishes. Other tests have shown the epoxy powder coating to have the following physical properties when properly applied: Impact (ASTM D-2794): 120 in. /lbs. Direct and reverse Salt Spray Test Results Corrosion Resistance Adhesion (ASTM D-2259): No Detachment 3x Flexibility (ASTM B522): Pass1/8” mandrel Coating Thickness: 2.0-2.5 mils 2x Humidity (ASTM D-2247): No Blistering Salt Spray (ASTM B-117): 1/8” creep after 1,000 hours 1x Hardness (ASTM D3363): 2H-3H Melting Point: 90C-120C (194-248F) 0 UV Resistance: Excellent mechanical and protective properties. Competitive Current Standard UL Listed: Listing Appleton Standard Listing, UL’s most widely known service, means that UL has tested and evaluated representative samples of your product and determined that they meet UL’s requirements. These requirements are based primarily on UL’s published Standards for Safety. (Products that bear the UL Mark for Canada have been tested and evaluated to the appropriate Canadian standards for safety). UL Classified: Classification Classification means that UL has tested and evaluated representative samples of your product with respect certain properties of the product, a limited range of hazards or suitability of use under limited or special conditions. UL Classifies products to applicable UL requirements and Standards for Safety, as well as to the standards of other national and international organizations such as the NFPA, ASTM, NSF, ISO and IEC. Page 3Page 3 Interchangeable Products with an Advantage Standard on all Appleton coated products. Unilets, lighting and many conduit fittings get the epoxy powder coating as the final finishing step. Improved Triple-Coat Finish for malleable iron products. Epoxy powder coating is the third step in our exclusive Triple-Coat Finish. Malleable iron products have the combined advantages of zinc plating, chromate dip and epoxy powder coating. Lasts 2 to 3 times longer. When tested under corrosive conditions, Appleton’s exclusive powder-coat finish lasted 2 to 3 times longer than our competitors’ standard paint finishes. More flexible than paint. Products are more resistant to mechanical damage since the powder-coat finish does not crack or chip like painted surfaces. Environmentally-safe process. Unlike conventional painting processes, the Appleton Epoxy Powder Coat Finish is completely environmentally safe. Airborne overspray particulates are nonexistent. Ideal for harsh and corrosive environments. This new generation finish stands up to harsh and corrosive environments longer. It’s the ideal choice for drilling rigs, chemical plants, refineries, pulp and paper plants, and any other demanding application. Page 15 IEC Product Solutions There are two major technical standards that govern the use of electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres worldwide: 1- IEC/CENELEC/ATEX* (common standard following agreement in 1991 on procedures for developing standards) Inspectable Nickel-Plated Brass Cable Gland EEx “e” & “d” 2- NEC** CEC*** (products approved by UL, FM, CSA...). IEC can be considered as the “international standard” accepted in nearly every country. Since 1996, NEC, Article 505, permits IEC Zone style installations in the US. This offers users a greater variety of installation and protection methods. For more detailed information consult NEC Article 505. Similar changes have been adopted by the CEC. * IEC: International Electrotechnical Commission CENELEC: European Committee of Electrotechnical Standards ATEX: ATmosphere EXplosibles (French: Explosive Atmospheres) ** NEC: National Electrical Code. *** CEC: Canadian Electrical Code “Break Glass” Alarm Station Zone 1 Bi-Pin “Light Duty” Fluorescent Luminaire Zone 2 & 22 110/127V - 220/240V Self-Contained Fluorescent Emergency Lighting Unit (Flameproof) Zone 2 220/230V, 50/60Hz Floodlight (Flameproof) Zone 1 230/240V, 50Hz IIB Page 16 Page 16 Bi-Pin “Heavy Duty” Fluorescent Luminaire Zone 2 & 22 110/127V - 220/240V IEC Product Solutions Complete range of control stations with cabinets or enclosures with can be adapted to any installation requirement Zone 1 & 2 316 L Stainless Steel Aluminum Polyester Polyamide Wall Mounting Socket Zone 1 &2 16A, 100 to 500V, 50/60Hz or 300/500Hz Power Socket and Plug Zone 1 & 2 63A, 220 to 690V, 50/60Hz or 60Hz Customized Motor Starter Enclosure Zone 1 Polyester Lighting Panel Zone 1 Page 17 Page 17 Appleton is our premium line of industrial location products under the EGS Electrical Group family of brands.
