POSITION: APPAREL Buyer
REPORTS TO: Vice President – Nashbar Merchandising
Nashbar, the nation’s leading online cycling retailer, is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Apparel Buyer to join the Nashbar team in our Chapel Hill, NC facility.
We are seeking that individual who will work hard to deliver exceptional customer service to all of our customers, vendors, and colleagues, while delivering the best deals in cycling to our customers.
Brief Job Description:
This is an experienced Merchant position and will be responsible for the Nashbar
Apparel category. Sources, evaluates, negotiates, and prices product for the Apparel category. Manages sales and margins on a daily basis. Interacts regularly with all areas of the Company - Merchandising, Creative Services, Marketing, Internet, Distribution,
Customer Service, etc.
Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for achieving sales, margin, and inventory plans.

Determines the Clothing assortment, and delivers the sales, margin, inventory and promotional strategies.

Works closely with Marketing to develop and implement an overall strategy for web and catalog presentation and promotion to achieve business objectives.

Leads change and brings new ideas/strategies to develop and grow the business.

Fosters growth and partnership amongst all members of the Nashbar
Merchandising team.

Develops and implements strategic plans and strong relationships with key vendors.

Responsible for the development and execution of the Nashbar proprietary assortment through our manufacturing partners.

Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of bicycle industry and products, including vendors, products, features, benefits, etc. highly preferred.

5 years apparel buying and apparel sourcing experience preferred

Strong communication skills

Sporting Goods experience a plus

Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel.
