CMM – 24-32-01
Batteries with a blue heater blanket installed as part of the harness assembly. This
applies to batteries manufactured between April 2012 and December 2013 or any battery
that had the harness assembly replaced after April 2012.
B.
Reason
Replacing the harness assembly that includes the blue heater blankets with a harness
assembly that includes a more robust heater blanket to increase the reliability of the
257CH9 battery.
C. Description
This service bulletin provides instruction to inspect and replace harness assemblies that
includes the blue heater blanket part number 024117-000.
D. Compliance
The Service Bulletin shall be accomplished when the battery is scheduled for its next
maintenance cycle. Spare batteries should be retrofitted after the operator orders and
receives the new harness assembly.
E. Approval
The technical requirements of this Service Bulletin have been written by Saft America Inc.
and approved by Labinal Power Systems and Bombardier Aerospace Corporation.

The following is for planning purposes only.
Service:
As the battery requires a general overhaul then there is no additional time requirement.

A. Battery
General:
WARNING
Disassembly should only be performed on a fully discharged battery.
Failure to comply may result in personal injury and material damage
Observe all Warnings and Cautions contained in the Component
Maintenance Manual referred to in this Service Bulletin.
Replacing the harness assembly that has a blue heater blanket with a harness
assembly containing a black heater blanket shall be accomplished in accordance with
general overhaul procedures defined in the CMM 24-32-01 Revision 5 or later.
B. Spares
Any unused spare harness assemblies containing a blue heater blanket must be
returned to Saft America Inc. for free of charge replacement. Contact Saft customer
service: 229-245-3008.
C. Record of Compliance
Record the accomplishment of this Service Bulletin in the Battery Log Book, noting if
the harness assembly was replaced as a result of this service bulletin.
