Power Supplies
Power supply 0-24 V AC/DC
This power supply features continuous regulation from 0-24 V
AC and DC. It can be connected to separate loads to the DC
and the AC connections, and the voltages can be set separately. It also permits simultaneous digital readout of both the AC
and DC voltages and currents.
The power supply has continuous regulation of DC current in
the entire current range, and a fixed AC current limiter is provided. It is electronically protected against overloads.
LED indicators in both the DC and AC ranges indicate whether
or not the current supplied has reached the upper limit, in
which case the built-in current regulation will reduce the output voltage.
The switch mode design enhances the dependability and lifetime of the power supply due to lower operating temperatures
for all circuit components. The supply also boasts low weight
compared with traditional power supply solutions.
This is a user-friendly power supply with a large capacity. The
simple and logically arranged control panel reduces the possibility of incorrect use. The unit is sturdy and compact. It can
operate hour after hour at maximum rated current capacity
without overheating

0-500 V stabilized DC power supply, 50 mA
0 - 6000 V DC power supply
The perfect choice for experiments with e.g. electron beam
tubes requiring voltages up to 500 V at a low current level. The
unit also provides a continuously variable output of 0 to -50 V
DC. Voltage and current can be read from separate displays
allowing the user to monitor either of the two ranges 0 to +500 V
or 0 to -50 V.
The power supply has a separate outlet for filament heating,
offering six fixed AC voltages. All outputs are equipped with
automatic thermal cutoff for overload protection.
The 6 kV DC output voltage is split with +3 kV and - 3 kV centered around a zero point. The supply is completely floating
– any one of the output sockets may be connected to ground,
giving the user the choice of a positive, negative or dual power
supply. This unit is ideal for experiments with electron beam
tubes, electrostatics and Millikan’s apparatus to name a few.
For safety reasons the current is limited to 0.1 mA at maximum
voltage and to 1.4 mA at the lower voltages.

High quality – low price
The new power supply 3616.00 covers the need
for a reliable power supply for numerous experiments.
Our goal with this power supply has been a
competitive price, yet good quality.
The quality is exemplified by the stabilized DC voltage that can
be adjusted continuously in the range 0-12V. This output is
electronically protected against overload and short circuit.
The power supply has 4 different AC voltages. The vast
majority of alternating current experiments can be performed
at one of these voltages.

Watt and energy meter
Computer interface
Our Watt and Energy Meter is a most versatile instrument
designed for education. The bright display with its 45 mm
high digits is easily read even from the back of the classroom.
Apart from measuring true RMS voltage (V) and current (A)
the meter is capable of measuring apparent power (VA), phase
angle (ϕ), active power (W), energy consumption (Ws, Wh), frequency (Hz), and time elapsed (s, h) for energy consumption.
The input terminals on the front panel are used for low voltage
measurements. Measurements on mains operated equipment
use the standard schuko power connector on the rear panel,
making this application convenient and safe.
The instrument has automatic range
selection and the change between front
and rear panel sockets also happens
automatically.
The instrument is equipped with a serial interface.
The instrument may be controlled by e.g. a terminal program,
but we recommend the free PC program DataLyse, downloadable from datalyse.dk.
Datalogging
A built-in data logger is available. Setting up and reading is
done through the interface. An automatic start condition can
be set by software as a given time or power level – manual
operation is also possible.

Van de Graaff generator
Generates ultra high voltages for electrostatic experiments.
Impressive sparks with a length of up to 100 mm can be obtained – but the equipment is still safe to use thanks to the very
low output current.
Electrons are transferred to the dome by a nonconductive belt
which passes two rollers made from different plastics.
The design is open to inspection – even the dome is easily
dismantled – so the principles behind the device can be studied. The belt is driven by either a crank or a variable speed
motor. On the top of the dome, a 4 mm socket is provided for

As a pico-ampere meter it may for instance be used in photoelectric effect experiments (determination of Planck’s constant). With the matching ionization chamber, it can show the weak currents
which passes through air when alpha radiation makes it slightly conductive.
As a nano-coulomb meter it is a most versatile tool for a lot of electrostatic experiments.
The charge integration occurs within the instrument at close to zero voltage, virtually eliminating
leakage currents. With a Faraday ice pail and a metal plated ball on a rod, a very persuasive
demonstration of electric induction is possible. Another application is determining the
capacitance of a plate capacitor with or without a dielectric between the plates.
Full scale ranges: ±5, ±50, ±500 pA. ±5, ±50, ±500 nC.

Plate capacitor
Used with our 4410.30 electrometer and a high voltage supply like 3660.50 to study the properties of plate capacitors.
Comprising an anodized aluminium disc 150 mm diameter,
mounted on an insulating plastic rod 10 mm diameter, with Ø
4 mm contact holes.
To avoid stray capacitances, simply build the capacitor as
shown with a stand base (e.g. 0006.00) and dielectrics or
spacers (4316.00/4318.00) – purchased separately.

Dielectric for plate capacitor
PVC plates for building plate capacitors with a dielectric. The 6
plates make distances between 2 and 12 mm possible. (Relative permittivity of PVC is around 3 to 4).
4316.00 Dielectric for plate capacitor
Spacers for plate capacitor
Use three small stacks of these spacers between the capacitor plates when building air capacitors. The spacers are made
from the same material as 4316.00 but with negligible area
compared to the capacitor plates. Thus identical plate distances can be obtained with air as dielectric.

Lenz’s law
Demonstration of magnetic braking
When a strong magnet rolls down the aluminium U-profile, the
changing magnetic field will induce an eddy current in the Uprofile. According to Lenz’s law, this current will generate a
new magnetic field opposing the changes in the original field.
The motion will be slowed down dramatically.
Delivered with two
neodymium magnets
and two non-magnetic
dummies of stainless steel.

Motor and generator models
These models are well known among our customers, but have not been available as sets before. Now all the necessary parts are
conveniently combined into one part number per set. The parts may also be purchased individually like before – see the following
pages.
(Note: Cables, power supplies and measurement or data logging equipment is not included.)
The models are open for inspection and investigation by the student. As they are built mostly from standard parts they inspire the
students to further experiments.

Three phase generator model, set
Three phase motor accessory set
Students will easily grasp the concept of three phase electricity when they work with this simple generator setup. To show
the phase difference between the induced voltages, hook up
two of the coils at a time to an oscilloscope – or even better:
Use data logging to graph all three phases in one diagram.
This set is an extension to 4760.50 and allows you to demonstrate synchronous and asynchronous motors.
The following items must be purchased separately: 4760.50
