Air Guns Rules: Rules available from IPC at http://ipc-shooting.org/
Event Specifics: We will shoot 40 and 60 shot rounds in each event at a distance of 10m.
Each registered athlete is only allowed to enter up to 2 of the 3 separate events. At registration
you will be asked to clarify if you will be shooting novice (40 shots) or elite (60 shots). Please
note that Shooting does conflict with the track and field competition, so you will be limited to
only one shooting event if you are also entered in track or field.
Classification:
Shooting utilizes a functional classification system, which enables athletes from different
disability classes with the same abilities to compete together, either individually or in teams.
Depending on the existing limitations (degree of body trunk functionality, balance while seating,
muscle strength, mobility of both upper and lower limbs), and on the skills that are necessary in
Shooting, athletes are divided into three classes: SH1, SH2 and SH3 (Paralympic Competition
includes only classes SH1 and SH2). The basic difference between SH1 and SH2 is that SH2
athletes may use a special support for the arm, which complies with the IPC specifications. SH3
athletes are visually impaired.
Shooting classification is divided into three main classes:
SH1: Pistol and Rifle competitors that do not require a shooting stand.
SH2: Rifle competitors who have no ability to support the weight of the firearm with their arms
and therefore require a shooting stand.
SH3: Rifle competitors with visual impairment (we will not be shooting SH3 at this competition).
Note: We will also host an open classification for all those that do not qualify into one of the
above classification systems.
Texas Regional Games Events:
10M Air Rifle Standing
10M Air Rifle Prone
10M Air Pistol
Open, SH1, SH2
Open, SH 1, SH 2
Open, SH1
Equipment: Please try to bring the gun and pellets you use at practice if possible. We will have
air for replenishment, but may be limited with CO2 replenishment, please be prepared with extra
CO2 cartridges if possible.
Please let us know if you do not have a gun to compete with at the event (pistols not available
for loan). We have a few extra guns, so you can reserve one to use if needed.
Details on the guns, targets, range, ammo, etc. can be found at USA Shooting:
