Proposed draft Amendment No.2
To
AIS 076: Approval of Vehicle Alarm Systems (VAS) for M1 and N1 Category of
Vehicles and of these Vehicles with regard to their Alarm Systems (AS)
1.
Page 5/34, Clause 5.1.1,
Substitute following text for existing text:
Some kinds of additional sensors, e.g. passenger compartment control (ultrasonic,
infrared) or inclination sensor, etc., may be intentionally deactivated. In this case,
separate deliberate action must be taken each time before the VAS is set. It must
not be possible to deactivate the sensors while the alarm system is in a set state.
(Justification: Deletion of separate deliberate action to deactivate additional
sensors/features each time before the VAS is set. The purpose of this requirement is to
ensure reset of all features to its default state for every cycle of VAS. In India, few
vehicle models provide option to the user to set the sensitivity of the sensor depending
upon the need. This feature is not effective if each time the user has to set the
sensitivity of the sensor. Also process of setting this for each cycle is very
complicated and not user friendly. Removal of requirement related to deliberate
action, will not impact main function of VAS, as it is related to some kind of optional
additional sensor)
2.
Page 14/34, Part II, First para,
Substitute following text for existing text:
PART II
APPROVAL OF A VEHICLE WITH REGARD TO ITS ALARM SYSTEM
When a VAS approved to Part II Part I of this standard is being used in a vehicle
submitted for approval to Part III Part II of this standard, tests required to be passed
by a VAS in order to obtain approval to Part II of this standard shall not be
repeated.
(Justification: This is the correction of typographical error. Part I is for system
approval and Part II is for vehicle level approval. Part III reference is in-correct as
Part III applies to Immobilizers)
3.
Page 24/34, Clause 18.4.2, amend to read:
If the immobilizer can enter the set state when the ignition key is in the engine
running mode as provided for in paragraph 18.4 17.4., the immobilizer may also be
Page 1 of 2
set by the opening of the driver’s door and/or the authorised user carrying out a
deliberate action.
(Justification: This is the correction of typographical error. The provisions regarding
“immobilizer set state when the ignition key is in the engine running mode” are
covered in Clause 17.4 and not in 18.4)
