ELECTRICAL POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
POWER MANAGEMENT SUITE
TECHNICAL CONCEPT
State of the art vehicle platforms are equipped
with a variety of electrical systems and electronic
equipment. The Thales power management
subsystem constantly supervises voltage, current
flow and remaining capacity of the two independent
battery systems. It controls the charging of the
batteries and power distribution to all equipment.
Operation Modes:
• Normal
• Normal Engine Running
• Silent Watch
• Emergency Silent Watch
• Isolate Vehicle Battery
• Isolate System Battery
• Override
• External Start Power
• External Battery Charging
• Battery Bridge
ENGINE START & DRIVING MODE
Restart Secured: Confidence in having enough energy
to restart the engine.
Silent Watch: Crew is able to judge remaining time for
silent watch.
Reconfiguration: Allows changing mission tasks and
priorities by a single button.
Human factors: Reduced cabling removes heat input
to crew and improves SWaP (size Weight and Power)
budget.
Reduced Training: Reduced crew task load and training
needs. Human-machine interface is very user-friendly
(minimal number of switches to operate).
Availability: Optimised start-up sequencer reduces
time into action. Controlled load shedding to maintain
critical functions.
Robustness: Several fallback modes. System is still able
to provide power after damage of crew station.
Open architecture: Time to integrate upgrades into
electrical system minimised.
