ORION LENS TECHNOLOGIES
THE ORION PRECISION DIFFERENCE
Our Freeform technology uses state-of-the-art lens processing equipment and Orion’s
advanced digital lens designs to deliver the most precisely crafted prescription possible.
Customised Orion Lenses are created to address your patients’ specific visual requirements,
within 1/100 of a dioptre, resulting in easy adaptation and high patient satisfaction. To ensure
the lens design is exactly what the optometrist and lab intended, each lens is digitally
mapped and verified. This extra step ensures precision and accuracy with every Orion
lens. ORION Freeform Lenses are made in VSP partner labs worldwide, based on VSP lens
technologies developed in the VSPOne® Lab in Dallas. VSPOne is your source for innovative
technologies, outstanding customer service and an extensive selection of quality products. All
partner labs are vetted for consistent quality, cost and on-time performance.
Traditionally, a number of
prescriptions are covered by one base curve,
but that base curve is optimised for only one
prescription.
Using freeform/digital technology
enables optimisation of each
individual prescription. This nearly eliminates
power error and results in superior clarity,
performance, and satisfaction.

DIAMOND
Developing progressives is a difficult task; deciding which is the optimal power distribution
that will provide wearers with the best visual quality in far, intermediate and near vision has
to be a careful process. Orion DIAMOND has been engineered to reach the best balance
between the different fields. Taking into account fully customised wearer and lens parameters,
the ORION Diamond lens is for the customer where only the best will do.
High precision far vision and an excellent near zone provide wearers with a perfect
combination of quality and comfort. In the distance zone, users will find a 180º region free
of distortion to enjoy outdoor activities, giving clear vision at all distances. The near zone
is further improved over that of a conventional progressive, giving a wider reading zone to
improve comfort.

I-PC OFFICE ENHANCED READER
I-PC OFFICE
Lenses with only a reading area provide clear vision of objects located close up, while
progressive lenses can limit the width of the intermediate and near zones. i-PC OFFICE is
an ideal solution for near and intermediate vision, solving most limitations of other lenses.
Clear vision will be achieved from the 40cm near zone up to 1.3, 2 or 4 metres. Ideal for
all presbyopes with needs for intermediate and near vision such as office workers, cooks,
artists and many daily life activities as well as other occupations.
i-PC OFFICE offers several clear vision depths that provide wearers with a visual solution
perfectly adapted to their individual needs. Available in three different power degression
options, the user will experience a new level of comfort due to the wide intermediate and
superior near zone.
Around 65% of the degression is reached at level pupil position, making it easier for wearers

BLUE LIGHT PROTECTION
BLU-OLP
With the increased popularity of electronic devices, your patients may be exposed to higher
levels of blue light. Blu-OLP Lenses help protect from the dangers of UV rays and harmful
high-energy blue light.
Utilising the BluTech lens technology, Blu-OLP Lenses filter high-energy blue and
ultra-violet light utilising ocular lens pigment (OLP) derived from the auto-oxidation of
3-Hydroxykynurenine (3-OHKyn). 3-OHKyn is a metabolite of tryptophan, which filters UV light
in the human eye. The lens technology is a process of infusing the right combination of OLP
and melanin in a way that synthesises just like the human eye does. This provides the same
protection, contrast enhancement, and colour perception to the eye as the natural yellowbrown colouration of the human crystalline lens. Unlike film-coated optics or applied coatings,
Blu-OLP Lenses never lose their effectiveness and are made with a high impact resistant lens
material.
Most blue light coatings deflect around 20% of blue light between 415nm and 455nm. Blu-OLP
Lenses filter all wavelengths of blue light offering maximum protection with 100% filtration,
where most damage occurs at 400nm.

FITTING GUIDE
FRAME MEASUREMENTS
WITH BOXING SYSTEM
“A” Measurement
The horizontal distance between the furthest temporal and nasal edges of the lens shape.
The A measurement is also commonly known as the eye-size.
“B” Measurement
The vertical distance between the furthest top and bottom edges of the lens shape.
Datum Line
The horizontal line that runs through the vertical centre of the frame.
Distance Between Lenses (DBL)
The shortest distance between the nasal edges of each lens or the distance between boxes.
DBL is also commonly referred to as bridge size. Note: Frames are typically marked for size,
for example: 54-18, where 54 is the “A” Measurement and 18 is the DBL.
Effective Diameter (ED)
Twice the distance from the geometric centre of the lens furthest edge of the lens shape, or
the longest axis measurement, ED is used in combination with decentration distance to select
the minimum lens blank size required to fit a given frame.
Seg Height
The vertical distance between the bottom edge of the box measurement and the top of
the bifocal or trifocal segment.
Minimum Blank Size
Step 1: Add A + DBL
Step 2: Subtract PD (Binocular)
Step 3: Add resultant number to ED
= Minimum blank requirement
