Court Services Specialist Certificate M/S (Rodgers/Drury) to approve the revision of the Court Services Specialist certificate by moving BUS 260, Business Communications, up to Section I., Required Courses for the certificate, effective 2012 - 2013, as presented. Journalism Major M/S (Heumann/Castrapel) to approve the revision of the Journalism major with the inactivation of four courses (JRN 102, 104, 106 and 108), effective 2012 - 2013, as presented. The motion carried. d. Liberal Studies General Option Major M/S (Seivertson/Heumann) to approve the revision of the Liberal Studies, General Option major with the addition of ART 102 to Section C. and the modification to Section C to be a choice between the three courses, effective 2012 - 2013, as presented. The motion carried. e. Liberal Studies SDSU Teacher Preparation Option Major M/S (Seivertson/Heumann) to approve the revision of the Liberal Studies, SDSU Teacher Preparation Option major with the addition of ART 102 to Section E., increasing the units in Section E. to 6.0 and revising the total units required for the major, effective 2012 - 2013, as presented. Course Learning Objectives/Core Content Relation Kathy discussed the origin of the decision to link objectives to core content numerically. This was a college decision many years ago and has just never been changed. Committee members commented that they felt the number of objectives should not have to be matched numerically as long as the content reflected a relationship with the stated objectives. It was decided that this issue would be brought back to the next meeting as an action item. IV. Information Items 1. What data do Divisions/Programs need for faculty priority – Kathy Berry • • • • • • • • • Kathy Berry – stated that it was this committee’s responsibility to look at faculty prioritization and asked the committee what data they felt was needed to facilitate the process. Michael Heumann – how does faculty priority fit into the Staffing Committee? Carol Lee – with program review departments should identify faculty/clerical are needed. Kathy Berry – mentioned that if only instruction provided this information then Student Services would be left out. Carol Lee – as a committee we would create the list and submit a recommendation to Academic Senate. Krista Byrd asked if there was currently an updated list. Kathy Berry stated that it was last year’s list. Carol Lee – can email the list, reminded members that it was driven by program review and would try to provide the information prior to the meeting in January or February. It was the determination of the committee that this issue is part of the curriculum committee’s responsibility and further discussion would occur at the January meeting. V. Other Items None VI.
