Application of Test system : The test system is required to conduct Heating Cycle Voltage test (Cl.
13.2.3 of IEC 62067- 2001) under pre-qualification (PQ) test on EHV grade XLPE power cables
and cable accessories (Joints and Terminations). Length of the cable system for pre-qualification
test would be in the range of 100 meters to 150 meters.

XLPE Power cables and cable accessories (Joints and Terminations) to test voltages as per Table 3
of IEC 62067-2011 and Cl. 13.2 of IEC 62067- 2011 for Heating Cycle voltage test .

Rating of AC Test system:
• Output: 4200 kVA, 600 kV AC.
• Capacitance range of test sample: Typical values of Capacitance of
EHV XLPE cables are given below:
220 kV: 0.25 Micro Farad /km
400 kV: 0.22 Micro Farad /km
Length of the cable for testing: 100 meters to 150 meters.
Capacitance of the voltage divider and Coupling capacitor will be
extra.
• Installation of Test sample: Outdoor
• Installation of AC test system: Outdoor
• Duty cycle : Continuous for ONE YEAR
• Type of cooling: ONAN
• Partial discharge level : Less than 5 pC
• Noise Level: Less than 80 dBA at 2 meters from the test system.
Note: Resonance transformer test system for the above application
is not preferred.
Phase to Phase two wire 415 V ± 10 % , Frequency 50± 2 Hz.
The test system shall have suitable compensation to limit input
power requirement of the test system to 300 KVA (maximum).
Energy efficient system with stabilized output voltage will be
preferred.

a) Test system shall have suitable design to accommodate input
supply fluctuations with reference to voltage and frequency like
slow & medium fluctuations and very fast transients, so that the
output of the transformer will be stable as per relevant IEC
standard during ONE YEAR continuous energization at full load.
b) Test system shall have suitable design to accommodate changes
in environmental conditions (like rain, etc.,) and output voltage of
the transformer shall be stable as per relevant IEC standard during
ONE YEAR continuous energization at full load.
c) Test system shall be capable of withstanding flashover and shortcircuit during its usage.
d) Test system shall have suitable Basic Insulation Level as per
relevant IEC standard.
e) Test system shall be mounted on a mobile base.

compensation /tuning of the reactor for the required load
capacitance (as applicable)
b) Output voltage of the transformer shall be sensed through the

The instrument shall be calibrated from ISO/IEC 17025 accredited
laboratories. The calibration certificates shall contain the
information uncertainty calculations and certificate traceable to
international standards shall be supplied along with the
instrument.

Pre-dispatch Inspection &

Pre-dispatch Inspection & Testing shall be as follows:
(a) No load & Full load test up to 500 kV and at Max kVA rating.
(b) All safety features to be demonstrated.
(c) Demo of Harmonics level
(d) Test system to be tested at full Load & at Full Voltage Rating for
4 days continuously at the manufacturer works. Oil and winding
temperature to be monitored.
(e) Noise level measurement
(f) Partial discharge measurement on test system to demonstrate
PD level < 5 pC at 600 kV.
(g)Partial discharge measurement on high voltage
capacitor Divider to demonstrate PD level <5 pC at 600 kV.
The system will be inspected by CPRI Engineers at the
manufacturers work before dispatch. Manufacturer should impart
hands on training free of cost, for two CPRI Engineers for minimum
5 days at the manufacturer’s works. During the Pre-Dispatch &
training period, the cost of to and fro air travel tickets from
Bangalore to manufactures place, shall be borne by the
manufacturer

Data Interface and acquisition

Preferably through a Branded industrial PC (HP/ COMPAQ/
IBM/ DELL) with minimum 3 GHz i3 or i5 processor, 500 GB
HDD, 2 GB DDRAM or higher, 32 Mb Integrated graphics, Built in
Ethernet card, DVD read/write, 19” TFT color monitor, optical
mouse, Internet ready keyboard and laser printer with minimum
32 Mb RAM, and appropriate RS 232 / USB interface card/cables
etc. The system should be pre loaded with licensed and registered
software: Operating system, Anti-virus, MS Office, PD software.

Installation, Commissioning and The system shall be commissioned at the laboratory of CPRI,

Bangalore, by the Supplier. Necessary Logistics during
commissioning and installation shall be arranged by the supplier.
After successful commissioning at CPRI laboratory, training on
operation and maintenance of the test system shall be given to
CPRI officials by experienced professionals at CPRI laboratories.

a) Resonance transformer test system for the above application not
preferred. However kindly give the offer with detailed
specification and justification for its reliability.
b) Offers quoted in the above format will only be considered.
c) Each page of the offer shall contain signature and seal of the

d) Firms having atleast 10 years experience in manufacturing the
above test system of the cited rating or higher only are eligible to
quote.
e) Customers list for the same to be furnished along with the offer

f) The quotation shall include detailed diagrams of each
component, necessary circuit diagrams of the test system, floor
area layout, foundation requirement, necessary electrical
clearance, earthing, etc.

the Catalogues / Brochures in the offer shall clearly mention the
Item Number, Clause, Table, Page Number, Figures etc., and
appropriately highlighted in the Catalogues/ Brochures..
h) The offers with incomplete information or false compliance
statement are likely to be rejected.
h) If necessary, may have to organize for demonstration at any of
other customer’s place where it has been supplied earlier.
