MONSOON PRECAUTIONS
BSES’S APPEAL TO ITS CUSTOMERS.
Mumbai, June 13, 2003: BSES Limited, the power distributor in Mumbai Suburbs
appeals to consumers to follow certain safety precautions in the monsoon season.
These are:

Switch off the power supply immediately if there is water logging in your
premises.
Please do not touch any installation in or near your meter cabin if the wall is
wet.
If there is water logging inside the meter cabin please disconnect the power
supply immediately.
Please ensure that wiring conditions in the meter cabin as well as in your
premises are in good condition and get them tested from a licenced electrical
contractor.
If there is water leakage or any seepage in your premises please ensure that
electrical fixtures or appliances are shut down and those that are portable are
removed immediately.
In case of any emergency observed in Meter Cabin, Street Light Poles or
road side Pillar Boxes such as sparking or electrical shock please inform our
round-the-clock Centralised Complaint Centre on Telephone Number 1912 or
the nearest Supply Complaint Centre immediately.
Please ensure that safety material such as insulated platforms, safety shoes,
rubber hand gloves, etc. are used if there is need to touch electrical
installations at such times.
BSES has geared up its staff and special attention is being provided to minimize
electricity breakdowns during monsoon. Consumers are requested to log their
complaints on Tel. No. 1912 and/or at the nearest complaint centre. Consumers are also
requested to furnish their Consumer Number and IVR Number, mentioned on their
electricity bill.
At present BSES provides power to around 2.2 million consumers and a population base
of about 9 million through its underground distribution network. Considering the nature of
emergencies like water logging, BSES may be compelled to switch off power supply in
some areas and there may be some delays in restoration. BSES appeals to its
consumers to extend their cooperation to the field staff attending the emergency.
