Accellion Courier File Transfer
Using the File Transfer System

The Accellion Large File Transfer Protocol must be used to send e-mail
attachment(s) larger than 10 megabytes. Total attachments size cannot exceed
a total of 2GB.

The maximum numbers of attachments are 10 or 2GB total.
Managing Files
Files uploaded and sent are stored in the File Cabinet. Received files are
stored in the inbox. Send History provides information on files sent from the
account.
Changing Settings
A user may adjust the language used, add a signature and manage stored email addresses.
Retrieving Attachments
Attachments are received via hyperlinks to the file stored in the Accellion
system.
Logging in
1. Point your internet browser to https://filetransfer.hws.edu
2. Enter your HWS email address and
password
3. Click Submit
Note: You must use
your full or last name
form of your e-mail
address to log in. Ex:
FirstName.Last
Name@hws.edu.
Sending a file
Upon logging into the system the send file tab should be pre-selected.
To select a recipient:
1. On the send file tab,
click To
2. In the User Directory,
under Search, enter
the recipient’s name
3. Click Search
4. Under results found,
select a recipient
Note: Repeat, until all
desired recipients
have been added.
5. Click E-mail To->
6. When finished, click Close
To send concurrent copies (cc) or blind concurrent (bcc) copies:
1. Under To select a file
recipient, follow
steps 1-4
2. Click Cc-> or Bcc->
3. When all recipients
have been added,
click Close

To attach a file:
Attachments can be loaded from a computer or from the File Cabinet or Inbox.
See Managing Files for using the File Cabinet or Inbox.
1. Under Subject, enter a
heading
2. Click Browse
3. Under Look in, browse
to desired folder
4. Attach the file by one of
the following methods:
•
Double click the file
•
Click once to
highlight the file and
click Open
Note: There is a
maximum of 10
attachments or 2GB.
If the needed file does
not show up, the click
Files of Type dropdown.
To remove a file:
1. After the name of the file,
click [remove]

To send a file:
1. In the text box, enter
a message
2. To receive a copy of
the message, check
Send me a copy
3. Click Send
Note: To cancel
Sending a file at any
time, click Cancel.
A status bar will
show the file upload
progress.
4. On the confirmation
of the sent file,
click OK

Managing Files
To search for files in cabinet:
The file cabinet stores all files that have been uploaded or sent. These files can
then be re-sent.
1. Click on File Manager
2. Click Cabinet
3. Find a desired file by one
of the following:
•
In search bar enter
file name, click
Search
•
Sort by clicking
headings in green
To upload a file to the Cabinet:
1. Click Add to Cabinet

2. To find the file,
click Browse
3. Navigate and choose
the file
4. Click Open
5. Click Add
Note: To cancel uploading a
file at any time, click Cancel.
A status bar will show the
file upload progress.
5. On the confirmation
page, click OK

To resend a file from the Cabinet:
1. Select file
2. Click Resend Files
Note: This will create
an e-mail, with the
chosen file
automatically
attached.

To search and forward files from the inbox:
The inbox contains only the files that have been sent to you. The files here can
be forwarded. Search for a file in Inbox by one of the following methods:
1. Click on File Manager
2. Click Inbox
3. To find a desired file:
•
In search bar, enter
file name, click
Search
•
Sort files by clicking
headings in green
4. To forward any files,
select desired file
5. Click Forward Files
6. Follow steps to send a file
Note: When forwarding a file, the desired file is automatically attached to an
e-mail message.

To review the Send History:
Reviewing the send history shows a report of files sent to others.
1. Click File Manager
2. Click Send History
3. To choose a file, click radio
button
4. To resend the file, click
Resend Files
5. Follow normal send file steps
Note: To view the file delivery
details, click the magnifying
glass next to the date on each
listed file.
Changing Settings
Passwords are updated with changes to passwords made in the Password Station
only. The default language is English. A signature can be defined and added to
each e-mail generated.
To change languages:
1. Under Language,
click the drop down
menu
2. Select the preferred
language

To adjust Web Client Preferences:
1. Under Web Client
Preferences, click
Rich Formatting or
Plain Text
Plain Text is the default
text setting. Rich Text
Formatting allows the
text of an e-mail to be
adjusted for size, font
and color.
2. In the text box, type
the desired
signature
3. Click Update
Preferences
4. Click OK
To reset the auto-completion list:
The auto completion list stores the address of e-mail recipients. Resetting the
list will clear the list of former recipients.
1. Click Reset AutoCompletion List
2. Click OK

3. At the confirmation
screen, click OK
Retrieving Attachments
Recipients of e-mails from the Accellion Large File Transfer System do not
receive the attachments directly. Users must click a link to log onto the system
in order to retrieve attachments.
1. In the received e-mail,
click the hyperlink
The link will open the
Accellion system.
2. Enter your
e-mail address
3. Click Submit

4. Enter your password
In order to retrieve an
attachment, the user must
have an HWS network
account.
Note: The password can
only be updated on the
(separate) Password Station
system.
5. Click Submit
When the recipient logs in, a return receipt is sent to the sender as a record of
attachment retrieval.
6. On the download page,
click file name
7. Access the file by one of
the following:
• Open file
• Save file to disk
To send a file back:
1. Click link
2. Login
3. Click File Manager
4. Select file
5. Click Forward Files
6. Follow normal send
