RXE 110: Monitoring unit for fume cupboards
Used in conjunction with RLE 152 air-volume controllers for monitoring the air volume or the air speed
as a function of the sash opening in fume cupboards; with optical and acoustic alarm (as per
EN 14175).
Housing of thermoplastic; suitable for fitting onto walls; frontal membrane keypad with 5 function keys
for max, min, mute, low speed and present. Two power cables: 2,9 m in length; 2 × 0,5 mm2 and either
11 × 0,14 mm2 (F001) or 9 × 0,14 mm2 (F002).

Operation: F001
Together with the RLE 152 air-volume controller, the fume-cupboard monitoring unit monitors the volume of air through the fume cupboard. The sash's opening is fed as the setpoint to the monitoring unit
and compared with the air volume's actual value. The deviation is indicated both optically and acoustically, as required by EN 14175.
An illuminated strip of 12 LEDs indicates the deviation between the target and the actual values. Starting at 10% , an LED lights up for each further 10%
(but the first LED denotes ‘In operation’). If the
setpoint and the actual value are within ± 8% of each other, the LEDs light up green. If the actual
value is too small by more than 8% , they light up red, and if it is too large by more than 8% , the
LEDs light up yellow.
In the event of a malfunction, an acoustic signal is emitted and the alarm contacts open. The acoustic
alarm sounds if the air volume's actual value is either smaller by more than 8% or larger by more
than 8% than the setpoint. The acoustic alarm is activated with a time delay of about 15 seconds.
The alarm can be suppressed by pressing the mute key. When actual value and setpoint again reach
equilibrium, the acoustic alarm is again ready for operation.
The alarm signal fed to the BMS is not affected by the mute key.
On fume cupboards with both vertical and horizontal sashes, the signal from the horizontal sash can
be fed to the monitoring unit – via external contacts – with priority over the vertical sash. The setpoint
signal (10 V = 100% ) from the monitoring unit (GY/PK wire) is fed back to the monitoring unit
(PK wire) via the external switch (on the fume cupboard’s sash).
A key combination allows the setpoint signal of the SGU 100 sash sensor to be restricted (minimum
restriction) to between 10 and 100% . If the limit is undercut, the comparison between setpoint and
actual value uses the programmed value. If this value is undercut, an acoustic signal is emitted.
If the SGU 100 sash sensor is fitted at the rear of the fume cupboard, the setpoint signal can be inverted by employing an internal change-over switch (jumper).

Operation: F002
Together with the RLE 152 air-volume controller, the fume-cupboard monitoring unit monitors the air
intake speed in the fume cupboard. The air speed is fed as the setpoint to the monitoring unit and
compared with the actual value. The deviation is indicated both optically and acoustically, as required
by EN 14175.
An illuminated strip of 12 LEDs indicates the deviation between the target and the actual values (but
the first LED denotes ‘In operation’). Starting at 0,1 m/s, an LED lights up for each further 0,1 m/s. If
the setpoint is equal to or greater than the actual value, the LEDs light up green and there is no acoustic signal. If the limit of the actual value is undercut, the LEDs light up red and an acoustic signal is
emitted with a time lag of about 15 seconds, and the alarm contacts open.
The alarm can be suppressed by pressing the mute key. When actual value and setpoint again reach
equilibrium, the acoustic alarm is again ready for operation. The alarm signal fed to the BMS is not
affected by the mute key.
The setpoint for controlling the air intake speed can be set – using a key combination – between 0,1
and 1,0 m/s. The difference to the setpoint for the alarm can also be set via a key combination between 0,1 and 1,0 m/s.
The monitoring unit has a PI control loop with an integral action time of 1 s. The amplification factor can
be set between 0,05 and 1,5 using a key combination.

Regardless of the position of the sash, an air volume of 100% is given, the acoustic alarm is activated and the alarm contacts open.
Regardless of the position of the sash, an air volume of 20% is given, the acoustic
alarm is activated and the alarm contacts open.
Reduces the inlet speed by 30% (factor of 0.7) at the sash in daytime operation.
Suppresses the acoustic alarm.
Revokes the night-time mode; suppresses BMS control via timer.
On pressing the present key, the red ‘night’ LED goes out
and the contacts are opened.
