EFIC-101
Trigger Conversion Module
Description, The EFIC-101 Trigger Conversion module is designed to convert a Magnetic (Zero-Crossing)
crankshaft sensor signal into a Pro-Series ‘2’ compatible crankshaft trigger signal. The required Dual Magnet
trigger pattern is determined using the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor. The Static
timing of the Trigger Signal can also be adjusted up to +/- 8 degrees using DIP switch settings. Static timing is
15 degrees with no adjustments (switch settings OFF).
The EFIC-101 uses the latest technology to deliver 50Mhz of optimized processing power. This has
resulted in an extremely accurate trigger signal. The EFIC-101 is capable of processing up to 50,000 crankshaft
position sensor signals per second. This far exceeds the requirements needed by modern high performance motorcycle systems.
Example requirements,
1999-2001 GSXR-13 @ 12,000 RPM = 1600 crankshaft position signals per second.
2002-2003 GSXR-13 @ 12,000 RPM = 4800 crankshaft position signals per second.
The EFIC-101 was designed to be configured (programmed) by the use of a DIP Switch located under
the front cover. This allows the module to be configured without the use of a Personal Computer and/or Laptop
Computer.

Specifications
Operating voltage—8 to 16 volts DC, Negative ground.
Minimum operating RPM—90 revolutions per minute.
Maximum operating RPM—20,000 revolutions per minute.
Static timing—15 degrees before top dead center (DIP switch OFF). See Page 7
Static timing range—7 degrees to 23 degrees before top dead center. See Page 7
IMPORTANT—The Green LED will blink ON/OFF with a valid Cam Sensor signal. If a valid Cam
Sensor is present the Red LED will blink ON/OFF every two revolutions if a valid Crankshaft Sensor is
present. This can be used to check for proper sensor connection and/or operation.
For Off-Road use only!
Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled motor vehicles in the United States.

Installation, The EFIC-101 Module REQUIRES that additional connectors be added to the Camshaft Sensor wiring. Install the supplied connectors as outlined in the Make and Model diagrams. Be sure to use the Proper Diagram
for your make and model.
It may be necessary to remove the connector housing to route the wires. Use the Proper diagram to insure that
the wires are in the correct position.
After installing the new terminals/connectors plug the Orange/Gray Y-Adapter into the Camshaft Sensor and
the Factory Harness. Plug the Yellow/Brown Y-Adapter into the Crankshaft Sensor and the Factory harness.
Plug the EFIC-101 Crankshaft Sensor input wires (Yellow/Brown) and EFIC-101 Camshaft Sensor input
wires (Orange/Gray) into the matching Y-Adapter connector.
Example—Refer to proper make and model diagram for correct wire colors.

Important Information
IMORTANT—Be sure to Set the DIP switch for the Proper Make and Model as outlined in the Settings
section.
Caution—Do NOT mount the EFIC-101 directly on top of another controller. Try to keep at least a
minimum of 1 inch between the EFIC-101 and other electronic controllers.
Note—Use only Static Suppression Sparkplug Wires with the EFIC-101. Use of factory stick coils is
OK. The Pro-Series ‘2’ software version 7.5 and above will recognize the Factory Stick coils and adjust
for them. No special settings or adjustments need to be made.
Installation instructions are continued on next page.

Disconnecting Ignition Coils from Factory EFI Controller, The factory stick coils must be disconnected
from the EFI controller. You MUST install the Coil False Load adapters included with the EFIC-101 or the Factory Fuel Injection System will NOT operate correctly. If an aftermarket EFI system is used the Coil Dummy
loads do NOT need to be installed.
Note—The factory stick coils can be used with the Pro-Series ‘2’ Controller. If the stick coil resistance is greater
than 1.5 ohms the coil output energy will suffer greatly and they should not be used. The Pro-Series ‘2’ MAXOP7.5 and later operating system will recognize the lower current draw of the Factory Stick Coils and increase the
dwell automatically to adjust the ignition output to the proper level.

Connect each coil as outlined. Be sure to use a +12V source that
can handle the current draw of the coils. The tail light power supply
should NOT be used for this. If a switched +12V source can not be
determined the coil positive leads can be connected to the battery
positive terminal. You must use a FUSE for circuit protection! The
coils will NOT draw any power unless the engine is rotating and
the Pro-Series '2' controller is ON.

NOTE—Use caution when setting Static timing on the ZX-12. During testing it was found that any
Static timing advance could and did cause starter kickback. The best starting results were obtained with the Static timing at 15 degrees ( default timing with DIP switch OFF).
