Here, in the Fresno Equipment Service Center, our vehicles are used to maintain numerous mountain roads and passes with snow, ice and freezing temperatures during the winter and dry, almost desert conditions, with temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees during the summer. This wide swing in temperature, and the fact that our equipment is usually working in dusty construction areas helps cause an excessive amount of condensation in addition to dust and other contaminants in our vehicles fuel tanks. For these reasons, our operating procedures call for routine servicing of our International “Dump Trucks” every 6000 miles or 90 days. Fuel filters are routinely changed every other service or about twice a year. Even with this procedure we were experiencing numerous delays, and time consuming slow downs because of frequent filter clogging, resulting in costly unscheduled or emergency filter changes, especially during cold winter conditions on the snow plow equipped International “Dump Trucks.” As a test we purchased and installed an RCI fuel purifier, Model FP 400, on one of our snowplows. We began using RCI Technologies’ purifiers because our maintenance budget was reduced. We had to find ways to cut back our costs, while at the same time continue to provide reliable emergency systems at all of our locations. Our generators run approximately 30 hours per year. We were changing our fuel filters every 12 months, and now by using RCI Technologies’ purifier, (formerly RCI Purifier West) we have extended this to 18 months. However, not only were we still experiencing problems with our fuel but it was costing us approximately $200 per month on filters for the pumps. We knew there must be a better way. We heard about the RCI Technologies fuel purifier and decided to try it on one of our fuel pumps. We removed the fuel filter, installed the RCI purifier and are extremely happy with the results. After researching several possibilities, our engineers specified the RCI Technologies’ fuel purifier, model FP 1500-P on each of our fuel islands. Each of these RCI units is capable of handling fuel flows of up to 90 gallons per minute and adds no restrictions or backpressure to the system. The RCI slogan “The Permanent Solution” is correct, we have no more filters to change and are therefore saving a considerable amount of time and labor. We no longer dispose of two or three quarts of fuel with each filter change so our hazardous waste disposal cost has dramatically reduced. About ninety five percent of what we throw away is now contaminated fuel compared to a normal filter change where you throw away ninety five percent clear fuel in order to remove the five percent contamination. All of this has occurred with no down side. We continue to have no fuel problems and are sure the cleaner fuel will result in overall lower engine maintenance cost. Incidentally, RCI purifiers have been specified on all pump islands in our new North Long Beach facility, which is currently being designed. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Fuel Purifier FP 400 ROESCH LINES “One bus was giving us a headache…” “We were installing a new fuel pump about every six months …” “We installed an FP 400-Ee in March of „94‟…” Since then we have not had to replace that pump …” We were impressed when we saw a demonstration of the RCI Technologies fuel purifier. However, we also knew we purchased only top quality fuel, we had clean tanks, we replaced all fuel filters on a regular basis and all of our equipment is constantly well maintained. Why buy something else! Roesch Lines is a private carrier. We operate our own fleet of charter and transit buses and provide drivers and maintenance service for some of the local charter bus companies. One of our buses, a 1989 MCI Coach with a Detroit Diesel Engine had been giving our maintenance people a real headache. In March of 1994, that bus was less than three (3) years old and we had already replaced several fuel pumps. We were installing a new pump just about every six (6) months. The bus was prone to breakdowns and proved to be so unreliable it was removed from our regular charter and service runs. After viewing another RCI demonstration, we decided to install an FP 400 fuel purifier on the bus. Since March 1994, we have not changed or replaced the fuel pump on that bus. It is now back on normal charter service runs in the Palm Springs - Palm Dessert area. Besides the cover, there is a three-page write-up on “Artemis”, which includes a reference to RCI Technologies fuel purifiers. Although the article was a little confusing in its description (referring to the Winns filters as separating water from the fuel, instead of the RCI`s) basically, both systems are capable of doing so, but the RCI centrifuge filters are placed right off the outlet side of the fuel tanks, so they are our first line of defense. In cruising Mexico last season, when fueling, not once did we have to revert to using our “Baja Filter”, and considering we have wasted our money by even purchasing one. The RCI purifier not only filtered out all of the impurities (and on our daily checks, there was plenty of evidence), but also negated our using any expensive additives; such as “Bio-bore”, to eliminate algae growth, when we left our vessel unattended in the marinas for weeks at a time. The fuel reaching our very sensitive M.A.N. was clear, and we have never had fuel blockage problems or dirty injectors. Before installing the RCI units, we had previously considered purchasing an Alfa-Laval fuel separator, but the initial cost (at over $7,000) was very high, and space constraints; together with the necessity of a daytank for running, were insurmountable obstacles. The RCI units are so inconspicuous; they blend in and look a part of the original fuel system. Great work and congratulations to the inventor! I am glad we discovered your product – you should do more advertising to bring it to the boating community’s attention. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Marine Fuel Purifier MFP 800 “Remember…ch anging a fuel filter …trying to restart the engine…in very rough seas…” “The RCI technologies fuel purifier takes care…” “Loss of engine RPM‟s…” Experienced skippers know fuel filter clogging occurs at the worst possible time. Rough seas stir up solid particles of rust, algae, and sediment, which together with any coalesced water quickly ends up clogging the primary filter. Which then impedes fuel flow, causing a rapid increase in vacuum pressure and consequently a loss of engine RPM’s. Like many sport and cruising yachts, my single engine 37 foot tug doesn’t have a great deal of convenient engine room space. Access to fuel filters generally requires moving salon furniture to reach the hatch covers, then crawling on hands and knees through small engine room access doors in order to reach the clogged fuel filters. The RCI Technologies fuel purifier, with the larger contaminate capacity, can be relied upon to trap the stirred up algae, sediment, water and contaminates. Remember, the unpleasant and very dangerous task of changing a fuel filter cartridge, plus filling the filter with clean fuel, bleeding all air from fuel lines and restarting the engine, usually happens while you’re in very rough seas. I have had enough experience under very adverse sea conditions. The RCI Technologies fuel purifier takes care of this! ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Fuel Purifier FP 1000 / FP 1500 “We are now specifying RCI purifiers on all our pumps…” “RCI purifiers are cleaning over 50,000 gallons of fuel per month…” “We are saving money each month…” “Not one customer complaint or problem in over a year…” About a year ago, we purchased our first RCI Technologies’ fuel purifier, (formerly known as RCI Purifier West). Since then, we have purchased fourteen (14) FP 1000-S and two (2) FP 1500-P, which we installed at five of our ten locations. We hope to complete retrofitting our remaining five locations this year. We are now specifying RCI purifiers to be installed on all our pumps at the new facilities we are currently planning. Presently, RCI purifiers are responsible for cleaning over 50,000 gallons of diesel fuel per month. Before the installation of the RCI purifiers, we were replacing filters at our dispenser pumps at least once a month, sometimes twice. We have estimated our filter savings to be over $275.00 per month, and that does not include the labor and the hazardous waste fee for disposal. Several months back we received a shipment of contaminated fuel. The samples we pulled looked milky white, even after setting for a week. We pumped this fuel through our RCI purifier. The fuel now being dispensed is crystal clear. In the past year, since we have had the RCI purifiers installed, we have not had any customer complaints or problems. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Marine Fuel Purifier MFP 80 “One had severe contaminated diesel fuel...” “Since installing the RCI... clogging of my primary... filter has not occurred” “Numerous filters failures....” This letter is in regards to the RCI Technologies Fuel Purifier installed on my boat. I had severe contaminated diesel fuel problems with water and algae. I experienced numerous Racor filter failures in rough seas with the complete dying of my 80 Hp Ford Lehman diesel engine. The Racor filter was completely clogged with algae that had been churned up in the tank from rough seas. I installed a larger Racor filter to try and compensate for the contaminated fuel and had the fuel and tanks polished and also installed a backup electric fuel pump, to pump the fuel through the Racor filter in an emergency. The clogging of the filter still occurred but not as often, if the filters were changed on a regular basis. Since installing the FPM 80-E Marine Fuel Purifier the clogging of my primary Racor filter has not occurred and the dark algae contaminated fuel is not even reaching the Racor filter. The algae is being removed by the RCI Purifier. It’s a great feeling to know that the water and algae in the contaminated fuel is being removed when I am cruising and most of all during rough seas conditions when you depend on the engine running. Thank you RCI Technologies for solving my fuel problems and giving me peace of mind. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Fuel Purifier FP 80 / FP 800 “Dispenser pumps doing fine…no problems…” “We were changing primary filters at least once a day…” “Impressed by the amount of water and contaminates the purifier retained…” “Our emergency filter changes have stopped…” We purchased two FP 800 units for our dispenser pumps and one FP 80 for a loader that was giving us problems. The dispenser pump units are doing fine, we purge on a routine basis and have had no problems. The loader, a Dresser model 200 crawler, powered by a Cummins engine is the real story. This unit had been out on rental for some time and we were really having a lot of problems. We didn’t know the cause, but we did know we needed help. We were forced to change the primary fuel filter once a day, sometimes twice. Since we have installed the RCI fuel purifier, we have not had to do any emergency filter changes. We just completed a normal service on the loader, we purged the purifier and was really surprised and impressed by the amount of water and contaminates the RCI purifier retained. This particular loader is usually used on steep hillside projects and the fuel in the tank usually gets sloshed around quite a bit. After seeing the contaminates retained by the RCI Technologies fuel purifier, we now know it has saved us many emergency filter changes. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Fuel Purifier FP 1500-P V.A. Medical Center West Los Angeles, CA “Within the first 20 minutes the rci purifier removed 2 ½ gallons of water…” “We just paid to have our tanks cleaned…” A little over a month ago we had our tank cleaned. The company hired to do the cleaning was concerned about the amount of water contained in our fuel. They suggested we contact the RCI people. Our tank is a vertically mounted 6,000-gallon, aboveground tank. It is located on the southeast side of our building, right in the morning sun. Our personnel installed and plumbed a platform mounted FP 1500-P unit so that we could circulate fuel from our tank through the RCI purifier and back into the tank, as well as making sure all fuel we were actually using went through the RCI unit before it went to our boilers. After installing the RCI unit, we used a gravity feed line to make sure we removed all the air from the new installation as well as the RCI purifier. Once we were sure all the air had been purged we turned on our circulating pump, which moves at least 40 gallons of fuel per minute. Within the first twenty minutes, the RCI purifier removed 2½ gallons of water from our fuel. Remember, this was less than two months after we paid $1,600.00 to have our tank cleaned. Water has been a regular problem for us, especially since we began using Amber 363 Lonox oil. It looks like the RCI Technologies purifier just took care of that. ________________________________________ RCI Technologies Sales Manual Rev. 03/09 Chapter 6 Fuel Purifier FP 1000-LS Valdosta Railway “We heard about rci and decided to give it a try…” “Filter changes have been extended…” “Installation was simple…” Valdosta Railway is one of the many short line railroads now operating throughout the country. And as everyone in the short line railroad business knows, we generally do not have the newest and most advanced locomotives. In our case we have two (2) 1950 vintage locomotives. The RCI purifier was installed on #184. Our routine/normal maintenance required to keep this locomotive running on its daily schedule (prior to RCI installation) required changing or replacing the fuel filter every three days. The RCI Fuel Purifier was installed about 6 months ago and our fuel filter replacement interval has been extended to approximately twenty-one days. Your unit has saved us a considerable amount of money in the short time we’ve had it installed. Installation was simple and the purging of your purifier is even easier.
