Dear Friends,
Since my own arrival on
Powderhouse Road last year, a
matriculation that mirrored that of
my daughter Abigail, Class of 2017,
I have been buoyed by Lawrence
Academy’s vibrant, welcoming
community. As an LA parent, it has
been a distinct pleasure to hear the
echoes of our own family’s experience in the testimonies of
fellow parents and my daughter’s classmates. Meanwhile, the
LA alumni have helped me to get to know our school’s
traditions and history, even as they expressed the high
expectations they hold for the future of their alma mater.
Each day, whether in my advisory, in staff meetings, or out in
the community, it has been a sincere pleasure to hear about the
many life-changing experiences others have had on the LA
campus. As such, I continue to witness just how special it is
to be representing Lawrence Academy, helping those people
whose lives have been so positively affected by LA to give back
to our school.
Now, as I enter my second full year at LA, my team and I are
continuously inspired to help fulfill the high expectations
of our diverse and close-knit community. And, with a
combination of long-range vision and a want to preserve the
school as we know it, our development program looks to
strengthen LA’s commitment to progressive, student-centered
education via continued, consistent efforts which will only
sustain the LA experience, of which we are all so proud.
Everyone in the Development Office relishes the opportunity

There is no greater evidence than the success of our fundraising
efforts during the 2013–2014 year. On behalf of the entire LA
community, we say “thank you” with sincere appreciation and
gratitude. As a result of your kind generosity, Lawrence
successfully achieved its most ambitious Annual Fund goal
to date—raising nearly $1.7 million and surpassing the $1.5
million goal. It is our entire community’s dedication that fuels
the success of our fundraising initiatives.

Lawrence Academy benefitted greatly
from the philanthropic support it
received from current parents this past
fiscal year. For a third consecutive year,
parent participation was among the
highest levels of support the school has
ever received. Through the remarkable
generosity of LA’s parents, the total
dollars raised for the Annual Fund and
Senior Parent Gift totaled $1,836,176,
which reflects a 14% increase over the
previous fiscal year. The impressive
display of support broadcasts a strong
message to all of LA’s constituents about
how invested our current parents are in
advancing the school. A special thanks

The Co-Chairs of the Class of 2014 SPG,
Bob and LeeEllen Jones and Jeff and
Sarah Newton, provided the perfect blend
of ambition and enthusiasm toward
achieving a second consecutive year of
fundraising success for the Senior Parent
Gift campaign. With the lofty goal of
providing capital funding for all of the
infrastructure of the school’s new media
conference center along with continued
support for the Annual Fund, the Co-Chairs
and SPG Committee worked with
diligence and dedication right up until
graduation to complete the campaign.

The 2014 Parents’ Association Spring
Social was a wonderful success and
magical evening for Lawrence Academy.
More than 200 guests attended the
annual event and helped to raise over
$70,000 in support of the Annual Fund.
The event was held on the terrace of the
McDonald Library. It was a fun-filled
evening for everyone in attendance and
a celebration of all of the support LA
receives. A very sincere thanks goes to all
who contributed to the success of this
year’s event.

Lawrence Society
The Amos and William Lawrence Society was established to recognize those individuals who have made a charitable planned gift or
have made known their intentions to include Lawrence Academy in their wills or estate plans through a bequest. Donors who have
made financial or estate plans of any size through wills, trusts, and other planned gifts are recognized for their loyal and lasting
