APS GROUP CONFERENCE 2016 We are pleased to bring you the programme for the 2016 Academic, Professional and Specialist Booksellers Group Conference which will take place on the 17-18th March at Wotton House This year’s programme includes a keynote address by Frank Furedi, Professor of Sociology at the University of Kent offering advice for the industry in promoting reading. Professor Kathryn Sutherland (University of Oxford) will speak on the Academic Book of the Future initiative and what it means for academics and our industry. There will be two panel sessions, one on current bookselling and publishing issues at home and in Europe and another on why print books still matter. An interactive session led by Jennie Blake, Library Learning Development Manager at the University of Manchester, will ask you to look at the resources you offer through the eyes of a student, and Will Bowes will present the latest industry statistics. Before that gets underway publishers and booksellers will have a chance to break the ice in the popular speed-dating session and there will be plenty of opportunity later on to unwind at the celebratory APS awards ceremony and dinner.
