(201) 943 – 6400 Fax (201) 943 – 1282 www.northernbuildingproducts.com Series 1600 Fixed with Project Out Vent or Casement FEATURES: 3.11 SPECIFICATIONS GENERAL: All aluminum windows of the type and sizes shown in the plans and/or as called for in this specification shall be furnished with all necessary hardware, anchors and miscellaneous equipment as herein specified and manufactured by Northern Building Products, Inc., Teterboro, NJ. This product shall meet or exceed all requirements for Grade Level F/APAW70. MATERIAL: Aluminum shall be of commercial quality aluminum alloy 6063-T6, free from defects impairing strength and durability. This thermal window shall be constructed from specially designed, heavy gauge, extruded sections split with a structural thermal break in accordance with Northern Building Products, Inc. standards and drawings. Sash and master frame sections shall be all of tubular design. CONSTRUCTION: The main window frame shall be no less than 3.25” in depth. All corners of both operating vents and frames shall be in mitered, reinforced with heavy duty aluminum corner anchors, two per corner, and hydraulically crimped and sealed to form weather tight corner construction. Operating vents shall be re-glazed from interior with removable glazing beads. HARDWARE: All fasteners, screws, rivets and other miscellaneous fastening devices shall be of aluminum, stainless steel or other non-corrosive material compatible with aluminum. All exposed parts of hardware shall be of stainless steel, or white bronze die cast. All latching arrangements shall be easily repaired or replaced without disassembly of sash members. Each operating vent shall have two (2) Heavy Duty Stainless Steel 4-bar concealed hinges, cam handle(s) and strikes made from white bronze with US-25-D polished natural finish. FINISH: The exposed surface shall be clean and free from serious surface blemishes. Standard finish shall be Polycron or Durocron electrostatically applied acrylic enamel finish baked on for maximum durability. White and bronze are standard colors. Custom painted and anodized finishes available upon request. WEATHERSTRIPPING: EPDM type weatherseal shall be continuously provided around vent perimeter held in extruded ports to prevent loss when operating the vent. THERMAL BARRIER: All window sections shall be of thermal break design, using a poured solid polyurethane thermal barrier. After polyurethane becomes solid, frame section shall be debridged preventing any contact between interior and exterior metal forming a thermal barrier. GLAZING: Sash shall be glazed with up to 1 1/4” insulating glass. All lites of glass to be of type as specified in attached glass specification. All units shall have silicone heel bead applied. GLASS: Standard factory glazing shall be double strength, 1” insulating glass. Specialty glazed units shall also be available. BEVELED EDGE SASH / SIMULATED DIVIDED LITES: Moving & Fixed lites shall have extruded exterior Putty Reveal on all four sides. Extruded, exterior & interior, standard & custom profile muntin grids shall be available. “Between the glass” muntin grids shall also be an option. Exterior muntin grids shall not reduce the 1” o.a. Insulated Glass thickness. RECEPTOR SYSTEM/SILL STARTER: (Optional) Two (2) part extruded thermal break aluminum receptor system and sill starter shall be available. EXTERIOR PANNING SYSTEM: (Optional) Exterior panning, where used, shall be extruded aluminum of 6063-T6 aluminum alloy. Aluminum section shall be one piece designed to lock around the entire window frame, shall completely cover exterior of the window frame, and shall be a completely weather-tight connection, but shall allow unrestricted expansion and contraction of panning members and window frame. The panning section shall be secured at the corners with screws into extruded grooves. INTERIOR TRIM: (Optional) Snap trim, closures and angles shall be extruded shapes. Snap on trim dimensions shall vary according to job conditions. INSTALLATION: All windows shall be set plumb and square and securely anchored as per drawings. All windows shall be set in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, without springing, forcing or distorting. Head and sill shall be aligned parallel and square with jambs unless otherwise indicated for aesthetic appeal. Completion of installation shall leave windows thoroughly operable.
