Solutions Manual for Physical Chemistry Atkins, Atkins. 8th Ed. (recommended)
(7th edition of text book will do if you have it now).
Time and Place: MWF 9:20-10:27AM 172 SEB; T12:-12:55 PM 172 SEB

Course Format: Physical Chemistry provides the theoretical basis for chemistry. In this
semester we will cover quantum chemistry. As with other disciplines that are
mathematically based, problem solving is the best method for understanding the principles
of the discipline; as a consequence homework will be regularly assigned. Although the
homework will not be collected your performance on exams will be directly related to
successful completion of these assignments. Answers to the assigned problems are in the
solutions manual or in handouts.
In recitation (Tuesdays at Noon) we will review concepts and mathematical techniques,
answer questions on the homework assignments, lecture and text material. There will be
three hours exams and a final (the last hour exam will be on a Tues). Grades will be made
up from the total points scored from those possible as shown below.
