· Share knowledge about practice and theory of the design process, from training and modeling to construction, assembly and exhibit of the objects.

· Make their own project, followed by expert tutors and specialized technicians who will help the winners during the construction process.

· Show their own work: projects and objects will be part of an exhibition at MARTE Media-Library Art

& Events in Cava de’ Tirreni and at DA A Design & Art Gallery in Naples.

· Acquire awareness of innovative economic and productive processes; discover the world of open source supported by the worldwide community of makers and Fab Labs; wise up to ethical sharing of knowledge and competences, linked to social innovation phenomenon.

7| system and technical characteristics of the material

The chosen material is cardboard.

SYSTEM

· Maximum dimension for the single finished modular element is: 500 x 500 x 800 mm;

· Assembly system is a choice of contestants: the object can be defined through operations of folding or joint. Dry assembly techniques will be better considered. However, the use of glue or other materials is not a reason for exclusion.

MATERIAL

Cardboard is a “heavy-duty paper of various strengths, ranging from a simple arrangement of a single thick sheet of paper to complex configurations featuring multiple corrugated and uncorrugated layers”.

The cardboard sheet dimensions are: 1190 x 1590 mm. Corrugation can be both on 1190 mm and

1590 mm.

It is possible to use different thicks:

· Wave EB, double layer of ripple, first about 1.5 mm, second 3.5 mm, for a total of 5 mm. One side color is Havana, b- side is white (White / Havana);

· Wave BC, double layer of ripple, first about 3 mm, 4 mm for the second for a total of 7 mm. It is possible to cut at a 45 degrees angle, even if it is not completely functional; cutting blade with a 45° wastes about 10 mm total. The color is Havana / Havana;

· Wave BCC, triple layer of ripple, first of about 3.5 mm, second and the third of 5 mm for a total of

13.5 mm. It is possible to cut at a 45 degrees angle with success; cutting blade with a 45° wastes 15 mm total. The color is Havana / Havana;
