Environmental Information • Environmental Policy : The VISHAY Ta/MLCC Capacitor Division has a defined Environmental Policy aimed at - avoiding the use of prohibited substances in its processes and products - reducing the use of harmful substances in its processes and products - using recyclable materials wherever possible - reducing the energy content of its products As part of this plan, no ozone depleting chemicals are used by Vishay or are known to be used in our sub-contractors processes. • Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Our devices comply with ELV, RoHS, and WEEE and do not contain the following. - Cadmium (Cd) - Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) - Mercury (Hg) - Lead (Pb): Tantalum capacitors without lead are available and are designated Pb-free in the data sheets. (MLCC capacitors are exempted for lead in the glass and/or ceramic matrix and have an exemption per RoHs ELV, Annex II, 14 and/or Annex 5). - Halogenated flame retardants e.g. Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB) - Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)) • Lead–Free Soldering The VISHAY Ta/MLCC Capacitor Division recognizes the emphasis now placed on the subject of “lead-free soldering” as a result of the European Directives ELV, RoHS, WEEE. We are committed to providing capacitors that meet these more stringent requirements. Global lead-free soldering standards are currently under development. • Constituents Materials of Tantalum and MLCC Capacitors Can be provided on request from the following contacts: tantalum@vishay.com mlcc@vishay.com 1 ELV: Directive on end-of-life vehicles 2000/53/EC, European Parliament & Council; September 18, 2000. 1 RoHS: Directive on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment 2002/95/EC (RoHS), European Parliament & Council; January 27, 2003. 1 WEEE: Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment 2002/96/EC (WEEE), European Parliament & Council; January 27, 2003.
