Underground Portable Power Centres
Littelfuse E-Houses are prefabricated, modular skid- or pad-mounted enclosures
for switchgear and auxiliary equipment. We deliver self-contained units, which
are completely designed, fabricated, coordinated, assembled and tested in our
controlled factory environment. These units can include low- and/or medium-voltage
switchgear, motor control centre enclosures, relay panel enclosures, battery and
battery-charging systems, and RTU and SCADA enclosures.
Our underground portable power centres are designed for the most rugged
conditions, specifically for underground mining operations with frequent
movement and vertical shaft or ramp access. Littelfuse mine power centres
are custom-engineered, and can include a primary disconnect, dryer type
transformer, arc-flash protection, soft starters, VFDs, breakers, protection and
control, and mine-duty cable couplers. They can supply up to 38 kV and with
capacity up to 4 MVA.

Metal-Clad and

Littelfuse can design and manufacture a turnkey switchgear solution from
600 V to 25 kV. Littelfuse can deliver these solutions in a range of configurations
including: stand-alone (indoor NEMA 1, outdoor NEMA 3R and NEMA 4), unit
substations, coordinated lineups of metal-clad and metal-enclosed, outdoor
walk-in construction, and skid mounted power centers.
Integrated Variable-Frequency Drives (VFD)
Our variable-frequency drives can be used in a variety of industries to start
motors, optimize load control, and achieve energy savings. Our unique VFD
modules are designed to be low maintenance and do not require air filter
replacement, and are designed to withstand harsh operating conditions
including dust, frequent vibration, and sudden shocks.

Arc-Resistant Switchgear
Mining Machine Controls
Arc-resistant switchgear uses an explosion-resistant door and directed venting
to protect equipment and workers from the force of the arc. The explosion is
contained in the cell, limiting the damage to both equipment and personnel.
Littelfuse manufactures 600 V to 25 kV single high or two high arc-resistant gear
to type 2B for indoor or outdoor applications, or to be integrated into a Littelfuse
E-House. Littelfuse is able to use breakers from a wide range of major equipment
manufacturers to meet specific customer requirements. Littelfuse arc-resistant
switchgear is a fully welded and built from 10 gauge steel and ¼” steel angles
and has a special paint finish for corrosive environments.
Littelfuse builds rugged and high-quality control consoles for portable mining
machines and miner controls. These consoles typically include Littelfuse MPU-32
or MPS Motor Protection Relays, rugged industrial automation equipment, and
custom keypads. Our portable mine power consoles are skid-mounted, metalenclosed, and typically used in underground mines.

Custom-Built Portable Switchgear/
Motor Control Centre (MCC)
Our custom-built portable gear is used in harsh environments, underground mining,
outdoor applications (outdoor switch houses), switchgear and ATS applications,
pump controls, portable-duty MCCs and many others. These products can meet
customers’ unique requirements beyond the scope of the preferred switchgear
vendor’s pre-engineered panels.

Outdoor Portable Substations
Neutral-Grounding-Resistor System
Our outdoor portable skid- and trailer-mounted substations feature an oil-filled
transformer in the primary section and a secondary distribution section. These
units feature a walk-in or outdoor-style enclosure for switchgear and controls.
Ratings are available up to 72 kV primary, 10 MVA capacity.
Our Neutral-Grounding-Resistor Systems are designed to ground power systems
by inserting a resistor between the system neutral and ground. Typically applied
on transformers and generators, our NGRs ensure safety and continuity of
service aren’t compromised.

We are experts at mounting electrical equipment on skids, trailers, or in
portable structures, so customers can have mobile power when and where
they need it. The generator enclosure features robust, ventilated moistureresistant construction. It is designed to withstand heavy snow loads, wind,
rain, and seismic events. A dry-type heavy-duty transformer is available as
an integrated option.

Switch Houses
Littelfuse switch houses are custom designed and built for outdoor applications and
ease of movement. They are typically housed in a weather-proof enclosure that can
be moved by towing the skid or using a forklift or crane. These units are available in
either walk-in or outdoor configurations. They are available in voltages up to 38 kV,
with a capacity of 1200A.

Power Monitoring & Control
We build very rugged and high-quality control consoles and PLC panels, including
all required protection and control. These consoles can include protection relays,
rugged industrial automation equipment, and network communications.

Power take-off panels offer a convenient way to connect portable equipment
to an electrical distribution system. The SEL-PTO is a custom product that
typically incorporates the SE-105/SE-107 ground-fault ground-check monitor,
overload protection, breaker, motor starter, and door-mounted indication into
a rugged wall-mount or free-standing enclosure.

Medium Voltage Bus Duct
Littelfuse manufactures a complete range of metal enclosed Bus Duct from 600 V
to 25 kV and up to 4000A for indoor and outdoor applications. Custom made
interconnections to switchgear and transformers as well as medium voltage DC and
arc-resistant designs are also part of our long list of experience. For higher current
applications both aluminum and stainless steel options are available.

Medium Voltage Cap Banks
Littelfuse designs and manufactures capacitor banks ranging between 5 kV to 25 kV
for indoor, outdoor, or underground mining applications. Detuned and conventional
multiple step systems up to 10 Mvar. Underground units, typically installed at the
lowest level of the mine or farthest from the shaft, can allow up to 20% more
capacity from the existing distribution system by automatically switching the
capacitor banks to achieve close to unity power factor throughout the underground
electrical network. These units can be skid mounted and designed to meet CSA M421
requirements. The capacitors are housed in a self contained explosion proof/leak
proof welded section and include an automatic CO2 fire extinguishing system.
