Length: Short Caps are available in any
length, in 1/16" (1.59 mm) increments.
Minimum length is .187" (4.75 mm). Inside
length tolerance is ± .062" (1.57 mm). Inside
length is measured along the side wall to the
radius of the closed end, not down the center.
Wall thickness "C" is measured .250" (6.35
mm) from the open end, increasing slightly
toward the closed end. Wall tolerance is ±
.010" (.25 mm).
ID: Because Short Caps are soft and flexible,
we suggest an undersized diameter for a
tight fit. For example, if your outside
diameter is .500" (12.70 mm), use a .437"
(11.10 mm) Short Cap.

About
Masking
At Stockcap, our goal is to determine
the best masking product for your
application. In most cases, there will be
many choices depending on the
circumstances involved in your process.
1. What is the cure temperature of the
process and for how long?
Time and temperature are the primary
factors in determining what material to
select. We typically recommend testing
the lower cost alternatives before
moving on to higher grade products. In
molded parts, the vinyl materials are
significantly cheaper than their rubber
counterparts.
Temperature > 450˚F
2. Is reusability important?
The higher costs of silicone or EPDM
parts may be offset by the fact that they
can be used multiple times in many
processes. In contrast, vinyl parts are
typically only used one time.

3. Are mold release issues a concern?
Silicone rubber is not the same as the
lubricant silicone. Silicone caps and
plugs have proven to be successful
masks in virtually every coating process.
Vinyl caps do typically utilize mold

reason, we often put vinyl caps through
an industrial washing process.

Plugs
Silicone Washer Plugs are designed for
those applications which require a hole
to be plugged, and the surrounding
surface area to be masked. Typical
applications include the masking of
the grounding area around a threaded
port. The opposite side of the plug,
the tab, aids for easy removal. This,
combined with its reusability feature,
makes the Silicone Washer Plugs an
attractive alternative to discs.
