1. LEARNING AT THE COLLEGIO
1.1
TUTORING AND ORIENTATION
The Foundation offers to the Students, when they arrive and throughout the duration of their stay at the
Collegi, these services: Tutoring, Orientation and International Exchanges.
They consist of individual and group meetings concerning orientation and support.
For any query or problem relating to your stay (both of residential and cultural nature) you may turn
to the Segreteria Studenti or to the Student Management. The latter is responsible for your stay and
your education as a student at the Collegio di Milano.

1.2 CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
You may participate to the periodical events called Testimonianze (Snapshots), consists of meetings with
prominent personalities from the professional community who offer an insight not only into their personal
and professional experience, but also an in-depth understanding of the field in which they work.
The Programma Culturale will give you all relevant information on each Testimonianza (including date and
cv of the guest), that will take place in the students’ living room at ground floor.
Please let the Programma Culturale (programmaculturale@collegiodimilano.it) know whether you are
planning to attend.
During the Testimonianze using the mobile phone and other electronic device is strictly forbidden.
Please remember to dress appropriately (no slippers, no pyjama, no gym suits).

2. LIVING AND STUDYING AT THE COLLEGIO
2.1 ENVIRONMENT
Living at the Collegio means living in a peaceful and safe space, suitable for studying. Freedom of
movement and respect for personal and common spaces and goods, in addition, order and tidiness must
be observed. We remind you that silence must be observed in the building and the surrounding fields
from 11pm to 8am.
Each student will receive a badge and key for his/her own room. The badge permits access to the
facilities (car access on Via Ovada, pedestrian access on Via San Vigilio). It is strictly forbidden to lend
your badge to someone else.
Badges and keys must be kept, cared for and used responsibly. In case of loss, a fine of € 50 (for the
badge) and € 50 (for the key) will be imposed.
Always ensure that internal and external gates opened by your badge close properly after they have been
used (if alarmed gates and doors remain open for longer than one minute the alarm with go off and
security will automatically be alerted).
In case you wish to use the parking area along Via Ovada or the garage for your own
cars/motorbikes/bicycles, you must report the model and registration number of your vehicle to the
Students’ Secretary. For security reasons cars and motorbikes cannot be parked within the Collegio’s
grounds when the Collegio is closed.
You must be familiar with the safety procedures and participate in meeting with the responsible parties,
scheduled at the beginning of each academic year.
You must always wear appropriate clothing and be respectful of diverse cultures and traditions that you
may encounter in the Collegio’s common spaces and during events and cultural activities.
You may use the automatic vending machines (coin- or key-operated, the key must be requested at
Reception) in a considerate way and the waste must be appropriately disposed of.
You may use the laundry space and equipment with care. There are two coin-operated washing
machines and one dryer (€ 1,50 each), one ironing board, one standard iron, an iron for shirts, and some
drying racks. Always keep the area in order and do not leave behind dirty clothes.
You can use the available didactic equipment (projectors, overhead projectors, etc.), All equipment must
be used with extreme care and any damage must be reported immediately. Damages will be charged on
the person who caused them.

Keeping animals on the premises of the Collegio and in the surrounding grounds is strictly forbidden.
2.2 ACCOMMODATION
You must use the accommodation that has been allocated to you and may not
let other people use it.
When you leave you must always switch off the air conditioning and the
lights, unplug any electric device, lock the window, the French window and the
door.
The Collegio provides sheets, blankets and pillow, as well as a weekly cleaning service including
changing the sheets. During the cleaning operations (day and time will be communicated) you must
leave your accommodation in order to allow the cleaning staff to work without any hindrance.
The students are personally responsible for leaving the furniture in the same state that they were found.
Damages and losses will be charged to the occupant and will be deducted from the cautionary deposit.
It is strictly forbidden to remove (even for short periods) sheets, blankets, chairs and furniture.
You must keep your accommodation tidy and clean. In case of significant lack of tidiness, the cleaning
staff will not perform the service and will notify the the person responsible for the Student Management,
who may take disciplinary actions. Computers and other electronic equipment must never be left on the
bed. Students hosted in the flats (foresterie) must wash their dishes themselves.
The heating system for rooms and flats is centralized; the temperature is automatically set to ensure
homogeneous comfort in all parts of the building. It is however possible to manually lower the
temperature of rooms and flats by turning the knob on the radiator.
Each room and flat is equipped with its own air conditioning machine. It can be switched off every year
only after it has been tested and cleaned. Any damage inflicted on the machines will result in an official
warning.
You must respect the rules related to the Collegio’s energy-saving policy.
It is strictly forbidden to paint, draw and stick posters, pictures, adhesives, etc. directly on the
walls. In the case of an infraction, the refurbishment costs will be charged to the occupant.
You must notify the Reception of any malfunction or necessary repairs relating to your
accommodation by filling in the dedicated form.
For safety reasons it is forbidden to keep electric devices such as microwave ovens, electric
heaters, cooking equipment. You can keep hairdryers, electric razors and hair straighteners, provided
that you always unplug them after the use.
For reasons of space and fire-prevention, it is forbidden to keep furniture in the room that has not been
provided by the Collegio, such as drawers, shelves, etc.
It is possible to use a fridge in one’s room, after being authorised by the Students Management. This
fridge must have the following characteristics:

Smoking is forbidden within the premises and is not encouraged in the surrounding fields.
NIGHT WATCH
A doorkeeper resides at the Collegio during the night. The doorkeeper may be contacted in case of serious
emergency (e.g. fire, attempts to break in) by ringing the number 3421562252.
OPENING HOURS OF THE RECEPTION
The Reception is open a during the following times:
from Monday to Thursday: 8.30am – 9.30pm
Friday: 8.30am – 6.30pm
CLOSING PERIODS
The Collegio di Milano is open 11 months a year. It is always closed during the month of August and for
about one week during the Christmas holidays. The precise dates of the Christmas closing period vary every
year.
2.3 DOCTOR
During their period of residence, students may consult the Collegio’s Doctor. The doctor
on staff is Dott. Stefano Pirovano.
It is required to have an appointment with the Collegio’s Doctor shortly after your arrival;
the date must be arranged with the Students’ Secretary.

2.4 MEAL SERVICE
You can access the cafeteria and enjoy its service only during the hours of operation. You
must follow the rules and wear appropriate clothing. In order to obtain your meal, you must show up with
a meal ticket previously purchased from the reception. If you do not show a meal ticket, your meal will
not be served.
Meals must be consumed within the cafeteria; it is forbidden to take food, dishes, cutlery and
glasses out of the cafeteria.
The meal service is available during the following hours:

The latest you can show up at the cafeteria is 15 minutes before the closing time
Meals will not be served during the closing periods and during the Eastern vacations
2.5 COMMON KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM
A kitchen and a dining room are available at the second floor of the Collegio. They are
open 24 hours a day and can be used by all students.
It is important that all students use these rooms in a correct way. In particular, it is compulsory to:
always clean the stove, working surfaces and sink after each use;

wash dishes, cutlery, pans, glasses etc. that have been used both in the kitchen and in the dining
room. Place them back into the kitchen in their correct storing place. It is strictly forbidden to leave
dirty objects in both rooms;
always switch on the ventilation fan when you cook and switch it off when you have finished. Open
the window while you are cooking and after you have used the kitchen in order to ensure the best
aeration of the room.
do not leave remains of food anywhere (not even in the microwave or the closets);
correctly differentiate the waste in the dedicated bins following the instructions;
always close the kitchen’s door.
If you do not respect these simple rules you will receive an official warning and the kitchen might
be closed to all users.
2.6 LIBRARY
You may use the Library 24 hours a day. You must leave your seat empty and tidy
when you depart.
Mobile phones must be kept silent.
You may borrow and consult books, and must treat them with care (it is forbidden to
underline, bend, stain, rip or break the volumes). The book loan is free: students may pick up the
requested
book
and
then
send
an
email
to
the
Librarian,
Alfredo
Delgrossi
alfredo.delgrossi@collegiodimilano.it, specifying the classification number. Any damage will be charged to
the responsible party.
Reference volumes such as dictionaries and encyclopedias cannot be borrowed.
Each student can borrow 3 volumes for 20 days each. Borrowing is renewable unless the volume is
requested by other users.
The value of books that are not handed back will be charged to the student who requested it.
2.7 WI-FI CONNECTION
Internet access is free thanks to a Collegio di Milano wireless network. The
Students’ Secretary will individually provide information on accessing internet and the
necessary password for the WIFI network.
Downloading movies, musical files, etc. is forbidden. As prescribed by the law, a
control system keeps trace of all internet accesses and records the data in accordance with the D.Lgs.
196/2003 (Art. 23 -"Codice in materia di protezione dei dati personali") to allow investigations by the Polizia
Postale and by other authorities in case of request.

2.8 GYM
Before you can use the gym you must see the Collegiio’s Doctor in order to obtain
a certificate attesting to your ability to train.
Please do not use the gym alone. Always go with somebody else to make sure
that someone can help you in case of need.
Use machines and equipment with extreme care. Do not move the machines and, for safety reasons,
always leave the emergency exits free of any hindrance.
Unload the weights once you have finished training.
Notify the Reception any damage you notice.
Please wear appropriate clothes, in particular use training shoes with clean soles.
Please place a towel on the machine before leaning on them.
2.9 MUSIC ROOM
The Music Room is locked; in order to access it, students must request the key to the
Reception and sign the dedicated registry. The key must be given back on the same day.
The Music Room can only be used from 9am to 11pm.
Every semester the Collegio di Milano chooses one or more competent students to be those
responsible for the Music Room. The Responsible Students communicate with the Collegio’s staff to manage
and preserve the available equipment:
They instruct new students to the autonomous use of the equipment
The handle the equipment
They check the material stored in the closet
They check the equipment and verify whether it is functioning
They assess the needs of the room and suggest whether or not to buy used up materials and new
equipment
They handle requests to move any type of equipment from the Music Room for different occasions such
as parties, exhibitions and events held at the Collegio.
The Responsible Student keep an extra key that can be used during the weekend.
In order to remove any object or equipment from the Music Room, you must obtain the permission from the
Students’ Secretary.
Please keep the room tidy and clean and do not take any food or beverages inside.
For safety reasons please keep the emergency exit free of any obstacle.

2.10 ARTS ROOM
The Arts Room is open 24 hours a day.
Students must:
keep it in order;
do not move furniture (sofas, armchairs and tables) out of the room;
do not abandon there personal items or objects.
N.B: the Arts Room is not a storage.
2.11 STUDENTS’ GUESTS
You may host a guest who can stay from 8am to Midnight.
The guest must be registered at Reception. In case the Reception is closed, you
must register your guest by yourself in the dedicated register. You are totally
responsible for the behavior of your guest. In order to receive more than one
guest you must ask for permission from the Students’ Secretary.
Guests who do not exhibit a valid identity document (ID card, passport or driver’s license) cannot be
admitted to the Collegio.
If these rules are broken, you will receive a written warning.
3. ECONOMIC COMMITMENT
Students who check in by the 15th of the month must pay the entire monthly fee.
New guests who check in from the 16th onwards will pay only the 50% of the
monthly fee. Guests who check-out by the 15th of the month will pay only the 50% of the monthly fee.
Guests who check-out from the 16th onwards will pay the entire monthly fee.
In order to confirm the booking, students must send a down payment corresponding to one month (or half if
the arrival takes place from the 16th of the month onwards) plus a deposit of € 400.
The monthly fee must be paid every month in advance by the first of the month, via bank transfer or credit
card on http://pos.collegiodimilano.it.
At the end of a student’s stay, the deposit will be returned via credit card or bank transfer within one month of
the departure date so long as the check-out was performed and no damages were incurred on the premises,
the furniture or the equipment. In case the guest decides to leave before the expected departure date without
giving appropriate notice, the deposit may be kept as a reimbursement. After the acceptance process has
been completed (that is, after the down payment has been received and the Private Agreement signed), the
deposit may be retained in case the guest cancels the reservation without a valid reason.
If a long-term guest wishes to leave the Collegio before the expected departure date, he/she must send this
request at least 3 weeks in advance. A short-term guest must send the same request at least one week in
advance. Failure to send a request will result in the retention of the student’s initial deposit.

4 . DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS
Students at the Collegio must follow all rules and requirements outlined above. Decisions
made by the Director and the person responsible for Student Management cannot be
challenged.
In case the student does not respect the Educational Agreement and the Regulations, he/she will receive a
written warning. A second warning is followed by expulsion.
Examples of behavior and manners that lead to receiving a warning are:
•
putting one’s or other people’s life in danger
•
lack of respect for the common areas and for the accommodation
•
lack of respect towards other people
In case of a serious infraction, expulsion will take place immediately. In such an event, access to the
premises of the Collegio will be totally forbidden to the person, even as a visitor.
Expelled students do not receive their diploma, cannot benefit from the placement service, cannot enroll in
the alumni society, cannot benefit from the advantages reserved to alumni and cannot enter the Collegio
without an invitation. They are therefore considered to be strangers.

Failure to pay by the 15 of the month without valid reasons will automatically start the expulsion procedure.
