Dear Mr Singh
:
EINEMP sfudies from Panipat and Faidabad Power Sfafions.
Please refer to your September 19,1997 memo. We acknowledge the
receipt of above referred two studies sent with your le,tter; one for each power
station, based on three !"nonths rnonitoring.
'
Because the consuttancy was financed by HSEB and further because the
retrofiting and rehabilitation of the above powerstations is not covered under
the scope of Bank financed Emergenry Action Plan, we have not canied out any
detailed revlew of the above reports. We suggest HSEB should review thern in
detail (or it may like to share these reports with the donor(s) interested in the
retrofitting effort.
We have however reviewed the summaries of both the reports quickly and
frnd that many positive actions have been suggested to improve the
environrnents. For exarnple, improvement in the quality of coal, on line
measurement of stack emission, management of waste water, cementing of ash
pond it should be implemented by HSEb in any case.
