The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2009. There are many members who are committing a great deal of time and attention to promoting certification and assisting their colleagues in achieving their chosen designations. We need to show appreciation to these individuals and thank them for their efforts – the annual PCB awards are a very good way to do this. All nominations must be signed by the respective Regional Vice President (RVP) and Chapter Chair. Nomination forms and award criteria are available online at: http://www.asisonline.org/ certification/2009pcb-awards.xml. Please remember these important exclusions when submitting your nominations (they can help in deciding whether or not a nomination is suitable): • An RVP or member of the ASIS Board of Directors is not an eligible award recipient, unless the PCB makes the recognition directly. • Institutions or individuals who have monetary or an otherwise vested interest in ASIS certification programs cannot be nominated for an award. • An individual must hold an ASIS designation (CPP®, PSP®, PCI®) and cannot be nominated more than three times. Thank you for your support and help in identifying security professionals who have made a significant contribution to the overall certification program. Spanish Version of Certification Handbook is Now Available Online The newly-released Certification Applicant Handbook is now available in Spanish for download on the ASIS Web site. This version of the Handbook contains an introduction to the benefits of ASIS board certification and a detailed overview of each of the three professional designations. The paper application, which is included in the English version of the Handbook, has been omitted from the Spanish version. A Spanish application is available online. If you would like to request printed copies of the Spanish handbook, limited copies can be made. Please e-mail your request along with complete contact information for shipping to Stephanie Muckler at stephanie.muckler@asisonline.org. New Multimedia Presentation Introduces ASIS Board Certification Security practitioners interested in learning more about ASIS board certification now have a new informational resource to view online at www.asisonline.org. The interactive, Flash-based multimedia presentation invites professionals to learn about the benefits of becoming a CPP, PCI, or PSP and visually illustrates the steps to achieve certification. View the presentation online at www.asisonline.org. It is linked from the main certification page (www.asisonline.org/certification), as well as several internal pages. To request a copy of the presentation on CD, please e-mail your request along with complete contact information for shipping to Stephanie Muckler at stephanie.muckler@ asisonline.org. 3 Certification News Thank you to IDG Meeting Volunteers! Item Development Groups (IDG) spent two days in Orlando, FL (March 20 –21) participating in the Item Writing process – the method of creating, editing, and updating exam questions. Teams consisted of CPP and PCI certification volunteers and the respective PCB Designation Committees who worked together under the guidance of, ASIS test administrators, Professional Exam Services (PES). Prior to attending the IDG meeting, volunteers had the opportunity to test new Remote Item Writing software developed by PES. The software offered the time-saving benefit of allowing online submission and review of items before the actual IDG meeting. The PCB was pleased to have excellent representation from subject matter experts and extends special thanks to all the following volunteers who undertook the tremendous task of writing and evaluating draft questions for the two examinations.
