SCORE – Build a Reef
Participants will assist in restoring and rebuilding an oyster reef. A presentation including
the overview about the eco system and results of the participant’s efforts will be presented
to the group by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. The purpose of the
South Carolina Oyster Restoration & Enhancement (SCORE) program is to restore and
enhance oyster habitat by planting recycled oyster shells in the intertidal environment to
form new, self-sustaining oyster reefs. This community-based habitat restoration project
is an important endeavor because oysters play a significant ecologic and economic role in
South Carolina; however, oyster populations are declining. It is important for the community, to understand how oysters improve water quality, control erosion, and provide habitat
for other commercially-important shellfish and fish species by learning about their biology
and the human activities that can influence their well being. By partnering with the community, the SCORE program can restore valuable habitat while also educating people on the
ecolocial importance of oyster reefs and the habitat that oysters create.

involving patients and volunteers worldwide to create colorful, soothing artwork donated
to hospitals to help soften the often stressful hospital experience. No artistic experience
is necessary. With the hands and hearts of over 500,000 volunteers, the Foundation has

The key group that drives the Foundation’s mission is made up of patients, families, medical
staffs and volunteers from around the world.

The Great Egg Drop Scavenger Hunt
Do you consider yourself to have engineering skills? Think you can build just about anything?
Put these skills to the test with one of the most delicate (and delicious) items in the world:
the incredible, edible egg. The task is to construct a single egg package that can sustain a
fall from over twenty feet. Think it sounds easy? The only materials we provide are a
Styrofoam cup, a roll of masking tape and a pair of scissors. You will have to find these materials
using clues given to you at the start. Teams will have one hour to collect and construct their
egg container. If no teams are successful in this first attempt, the teams will have thirty minutes
to collect additional materials and develop a different strategy.

join your friends, sip some wine or beer and create your own work of art. Fear No Easel
professional artists will guide you step by step to paint a work of art using acrylic paint on
canvas. Regardless of your skill level, the artists will help you to paint a creation that even
Picasso would envy! You will have fun, and have a masterpiece to take home at the end of
the event.
Your painting will typically be a 16 x 20 inch painting of a South Carolina lowcountry theme;
however, themes may be able to be customized to a specific request. In addition to canvas
painting, 75-minute wine or beer glass painting options are also available.
