most successful and visible programs produced and
presented by the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council
(LSC). The design, construction and amenities are
market-driven and showcase the latest in innovative
products for the future of home building.
Since its inception in 1984, The New American Home®
has been built to showcase the NAHB LSC supplier
members’ products making it a highly visible in-kind
sponsorship program. The home has the distinction
of being both a show house and a for-sale product,
balancing architectural freedom and the bottom line.
It is a collection of ideas for the industry to take
away—in large pieces, or bit-by bit—and put into
millions of homes across the country each year.
The show home demonstrates “Builders’ Best
Practices,” concepts, materials, designs and
construction techniques that can be replicated—in
whole or in part—in housing built any place and in
any price range. Incorporating such elements as the
ICC-700 2012 National Green Building Standard,
energy efficiency, indoor-air quality, safety, universal

built to showcase what is possible through the genuine
integration of architecture, interior design, landscape
design, andconstruction. The seamless indoor/outdoor
relationships could never have been achieved working
with an individual architect and interior designer and the
overall creativity of the project was derived through a
cohesive team vision that was cultivated from day one.
The most important demographic group of the future
will be those people who appreciate the value of high
quality, integrated design. This includes all age groups
and all lifestyle types which is why Element Design Build
believes so strongly in the concept.
The New American Home 2016 is a 5,280 square
foot, warm “American” contemporary design with
rustic elegant elements. The residence is designed
to integrate multi-generational living combining an
inviting layout with elegant style, eccentric interiors
that blend indoor-outdoor living lifestyles. The space
planning provides common gathering spaces centered
among private living areas. This concept allows young
families and older generations to live together yet still
maintain independent lives. Aging-in-place features
throughout allow for unlimited movement within the
space by all members of the household. The house also
incorporates the latest green and sustainable building
materials, products and construction methods in order
to reduce its impact on the environment and provide the
