CELESTION INTRODUCES THE CDX20-3020, 2-INCH EXIT
FERRITE COMPRESSION DRIVER
– High-performance titanium diaphragm HF device –
CELESTION, IPSWICH UK, JANUARY 21 2016 – Celestion, a pioneer in the
development of profes sional loudspeakers for over ninety years, announc es the launch
of the CDX20-3020; a new 2-inc h exit, ferrite magnet compression driv er.
With a 3” copper clad aluminium voice coil driving a titanium diaphragm, the device delivers 100Wrms
power handling and 107dB sensitivity across a frequency range of 500 to 18,000Hz. Recommended
minimum crossover frequency (at 12dB/octave) is 1kHz.
According to Celestion’s head of engineering Paul Cork “This compression drivers bring together the
best elements of technology used in the most successful products of our CDX range. The design
extracts the maximum performance from a unit that is surprisingly compact for a 2” exit device.”
Like other CDX compression drivers in the range, CDX20-3020 makes extensive use of Celestion’s
industry-leading experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize magnetic and acoustic
design, helping the device to achieve outstanding performance at a highly competitive price point.
This new compression driver also uses Celestion’s next generation of Sound CastleTM diaphragm
clamping assembly to ensure even clamping pressure on the diaphragm surround, while actively
reducing stress on the diaphragm during operation. This contributes to lower distortion while enabling
the full internal volume of the rear cover to act as a loading chamber for the diaphragm, resulting in
superior mid-band response.

FERRITE COMPRESSION DRIVER
CELESTION, IPSWICH UK, JANUARY 21 2016 – W orld renowned for the ir
exceptionally h igh -perfo rmance compression drivers, Celestion announces the
launch of CDX1-1070; a new one-inch exit, ferrite magnet compression d river.
Developed at Celestion’s headquarters in Ipswich, England, CDX1-1070 is a 25mm/1-inch
exit compression driver. Driven by a 25mm/1-inch copper clad aluminium voice coil, this
device provides 12Wrms power handling and 106dB sensitivity across a frequency range of
1500 to 20kHz.
It features a single piece PETP diaphragm and surround is held in place by a precision
aluminium carrier, ensuring consistent reliable performance and facilitating a smooth
frequency response.
This lightweight, ferrite magnet device is fabricated using a rigid engineering thermoplastic
with a standard 2xM6 bolt fitting. Acoustic foam is utilised to minimise internal air cavity
resonances, dampening unwanted reflections from the inside of the cover.
The CDX1-1070 magnet assembly and overall acoustic design have been optimised using
sophisticated FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modelling techniques, to deliver a much
smoother frequency response than many comparable drivers on the market.

exceptionally cost-competitive price point, making Celestion compression driver technology
even more accessible to reinforcement system builders.

next generation CF series of high-end, ferrite magnet, professional audio
loudspeakers.
Celestion is unveiling the latest addition to their premium CF series of ferrite magnet, cast
aluminium chassis professional audio LF loudspeakers at NAMM 2016. Available in 4Ω
impedance, CF1840H features a 4”/100mm multi-layer voice coil, for superior cooling to
provide 1000Wrms (AES standard) power handling and 98dB sensitivity.
Delivering long throw (Xmax) as well as high sensitivity, CF1840H is designed to be a multipurpose LF driver offering superior performance when used in a reflex, horn-loaded or band
pass subwoofer; while being equally at home as a bass unit in a large multi-way system.
CF1840H features Celestion’s proprietary BAV (Balanced Airflow Venting) to provide
enhanced magnet assembly cooling, further improving performance by minimising thermal
compression.
