COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES
DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
Graphic Design (Position Code No. 14-101-CHE 09): Rank Assistant
Professor or higher; Successful candidates will teach Graphic Design courses at all
levels in an expanding undergraduate degree (BA) program; contribute in area of
specialization; advise students. The ideal candidate is well versed in graphic design
theory and application, industry standards, and traditional and digital media.
Degree Requirement: Terminal Graduate degree in Graphic Design (M.F.A. or
above).
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA
Electronic Media (Position Code No. 14-202- CHE 09): Rank Assistant
Professor or higher, a full-time position in electronic media. The ideal candidate
should be able to teach a variety of classes in radio, television and digital media.
The candidate will also possess the necessary expertise required for the
development of a new track in electronic media to be housed under the Department
of Communication and Media. The ability to teach classes in media studies is a
plus. Ph.D. in mass communication is required.
Media Studies (Position Code No. 14-203- CHE 09): Rank Assistant
Professor or higher, a full-time position in media studies to teach introductory and
advanced courses in the department. The ideal candidate should be able to teach
courses in communication research methods and communication theory. The
ability to teach courses in PR/advertising is also desirable but is not required. The
ideal candidate would also aid in curriculum development and program assessment
and carry out other tasks assigned by the Chair. Ph.D. in mass communication is
required.
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
English (Position Code No. 14-501- CHE 09): Rank Assistant Professor or
higher, Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or Linguistics strongly preferred.
Candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarly research for
non-tenure track positions in English. Primary teaching responsibilities are
teaching undergraduate writing courses such as Freshman Composition, Research
Writing, and Public Speaking to a diverse student body. Successful candidates will
have a minimum of three years experience teaching college-level writing, an
have a minimum of three years experience teaching college-level writing, an
excellent teaching record, a strong background in writing pedagogy, and a
commitment to lower-division teaching.
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Electrical Engineering (Position Code No. 14-901- CHE 09): Rank
Assistant Professor or higher; a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field is
required, industrial experience is a plus. The successful candidate will teach a
variety of undergraduate classes. Duties will also include undergraduate research,
and service to the University and or to the community. Our newly established
Electrical Engineering program was launched in Fall 2013. The Electrical and
Computer Engineering Department is working towards ABET accreditation.
DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Department of International Relations (Position Code No. 14-601- CHE 09):
Rank Assistant Professor or higher. Applicants must have a strong commitment to
teaching undergraduate courses in international relations and the ability to advance
the institutions commitment to a liberal arts education. Successful candidates will
be expected to pursue an active research agenda and to provide service to the
department, college, and university. Whereas applicants must have a broad training
in international relations, candidates with a Ph.D. in International Relations or
Political Science with an emphasis in Public International Law are strongly
preferred.
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS
DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING
Accounting (Position Code No. 14-1601- CHE 09): Rank Assistant Professor
or higher; Ph.D. in Accounting is required, from a reputable Western university
with an accredited business program. CPA or other professional certification is an
advantage. A good teaching record and, in line with the Colleges drive for AACSB
Accreditation, evidence of research activity published in peer reviewed journals are
required. In addition to research, duties include teaching a variety of
undergraduate accounting courses, especially financial accounting and/or auditing;
advising students, and university service.
DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCE
MANGEMENT
Human Resource Management (Position Code No. 14-1701- CHE 09):
Rank Assistant Professor or higher; Ph.D. in HRM, Management, or Organizational
Behavior is required, from a reputable Western university with an accredited
business program. A good teaching record and, in line with the Colleges drive for
AACSB Accreditation, evidence of research activity published in peer reviewed
journals are required. In addition to research, duties include teaching a variety of
undergraduate HRM and management courses, especially basic HR, selection,
compensation and training; advising students, and university service.
DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING
Marketing (Position Code No. 14-1301- CHE 09): Rank Assistant Professor
or higher; Ph.D. in Marketing is required, from a reputable Western university with
an accredited business program. A good teaching record and, in line with the
Colleges drive for AACSB Accreditation, evidence of research activity published in
peer reviewed journals are required. In addition to research, duties include
teaching a variety of undergraduate marketing courses, including marketing
strategy and/or consumer behavior and supply chain management; advising
students, and university service.
About AUK
The American University of Kuwait (AUK) is a private university in Kuwait
organized on the U.S. model of undergraduate liberal arts education. The medium
of instruction is English. The University is accredited by the Council for Private
Universities of the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education. AUK also has a
Memorandum of Understanding with Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. AUK

and previous employment history. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate
classes to majors and non-majors of diverse cultural backgrounds, conduct
research, participate in student advising, honor office hours, and serve on faculty
committees.
