Stainless Steel Insert Installation A ! Failure to follow these procedures could result in serious damage, injury, or death. ATI is not responsible for damage to property, injury, or death resulting from improper installation, misuse or modification of products. If you are not comfortable completing any of the following steps, or do not have the proper tools enlist the help of your local gunsmith. ATI is not responsible for components that are damaged due to improper installation. Point the rifle in a safe direction and place the saftey in the "on" position. Next remove the magazine, pull back, and carefully inspect the chamber to be sure the rifle is unloaded. NOTE: Before the installation of the Mini-14 Stock to the firearm begins, determine whether or not installation of the Picatinny Rails is desired. If desired, begin installation of all Picatinny Rails on page 2 before you begin installation. If it is not, you may begin installation of the stock to the firearm. 1 2 If you do not desire to install picatinny rails, begin by sliding the Stainless Steel Insert into the front of the stock body with the larger end facing forward as seen in Figure 1A. Make sure that the pilot holes in the Steel Insert and in the Stock Body are lined up correctly as seen in Figure 1B. Note: If you desire to install picatinny rails, begin installation on page 2. 1A 1B Using a Phillips Head Screwdriver, secure the Steel Insert into place with two of the #6 x 48/2 x 3/8" Flat Head Plastite Screws provided as seen in Figure 2. Do not over tighten the screws during installation or the screw may strip. 2 70.0879.01 1 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Picatinny Rail Installation B 1 If you choose to install the 2" bottom rail, locate the bottom picatinny rail with the swivel stud attachment as seen in Figure 1A. Thread the swivel stud into the picatinny rail using (1) 10-32 hex nut. Then locate the pockets at the bottom of the stock for hex nut placement as seen in Figure 1B. Insert (2) 6-32 hex nuts into the pockets and hold in place. 1A 1B 2 Align the bottom picatinny rail into place as seen in Figure 2A. Holding a finger over the hex nut, use a phillips head screwdriver to fasten the (2) 6-32 x 3/8" Machine screws and bottom picatinny rail into place as seen in Figure 2B. 2A 2B 70.0879.01 2 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Picatinny Rail Installation -Continued B 3 Locate the existing pocket on the inside of the stock for hex nut placement as seen in Figure 3A. Insert (2) 6-32 hex nuts into pocket, and hold firmly in place as seen in Figure 3B. 3A 3B 4 Align one of the side picatinny rails to the stock in designated slot as seen in Figure 4. 4 70.0879.01 3 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Picatinny Rail Installation -Continued B 5 Holding a finger over the hex nut, use a phillips head screwdriver to fasten the (2) 6-32 x 3/8" Machine screws to the picatinny rail as seen in Figure 5. Turn the gun over, and repeat for the opposite side picatinny rail attachment. 5 6 Locate the top picatinny rail and the Ruger mini top cover. Insert the rail into existing slots on the top of Ruger mini top cover as seen in Figure 6. 6 7 Insert (4) 6-32 hex nuts into the existing pockets on the reverse side of the top cover. Holding the hex nut in place with your finger, use a philips head screwdriver to fasten the (4) 6-32 x 5/16" screws in place and secure the top rail to the top cover as seen in Figure 7. 7 C 1 Stock Installation Locate the stainless steel insert and refer back to step A1 to fit the insert back into the stock. Once in place, use a phillips head screwdriver and the (2) provided 6 x 48/2 x 3/8 plastite phillips head screws to secure the insert to the stock. Note: The raised edge of the stainless steel insert goes towards the front of the stock as seen in Figure 1. 70.0879.01 1 4 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Stock Installation -Continued C 2 Locate the barreled action. Align the barrel to the front of the stock. Bring the rear of the barrel down towards the rear of the stock as seen in Figure 2A, and firmly secure the barrel into place as seen in Figure 2B. 2A 2B 3 Locate the Ruger mini top cover plate with new top picatinny rail attached. Align the cover from the front, and bring the cover down into place as seen in Figure 3. 3 4 Align the trigger assembly and insert back into place. Lock the trigger assembly by firmly pushing the trigger guard up and into the locked position as seen in Figure 4. 4 NOTE: After installing the trigger assembly make sure to function check your Mini 14 to insure that the bolt is cycling properly. If your bolt sticks during any portion of the cycle you may have to add a 3/32 x 5/8" shim between the trigger assembly and stock as seen in Figure . 70.0879.01 5 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System C 5 Stock Installation -Continued Using the provided (1) 6-32 x 1/2" Machine screw and a phillips head screwdriver, tighten the cover plate in place as seen in Figure 5. 5 D 1 Buffer Tube Installation To install the Buffer Tube and Buttstock you will need to make sure stock is in the folded position. Begin by pressing together on the pin cap and under the pivot housing as seen in Figure 1. 1 2 Install the buffer tube into the knuckle of as seen in Figure 2. 2 6 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Buffer Tube Installation -Continued D 3 Using the provided 14 x 3/4 Phillps Head Screw and a Phillips Head screwdriver, tighten the buffer tube to the knuckle as seen in Figure 3. 3 Cheekrest Installation E 1 Begin by removing the cheekrest from the Tactlite Stock by pulling up on the cheekrest as seen in Figure 1. 1 2 Next, remove the cheekrest rail from the Tactlite body as seen in Figure 2. Repeat the same process for the opposite side. 2 70.0879.01 7 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Cheekrest Installation -Continued E 3 Place the (5) 6/32 nuts into the slots of the cheekrest rail as seen in Figure 3. NOTE: Make sure that the nuts inside the rail do not fall out while installing the rail onto the buttstock. 3 4 Attach the left cheekrest rail as seen in Figure 4A onto the left side of the Tactlite Stock Body by snapping in place as seen in Figure 4B. Repeat the same process on the right side of the buttstock. 4A 4B 70.0879.01 8 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Cheekrest Installation -Continued E 5 Using the provided 6-32 x .75 Flat Head Screw and a 5/64” allen wrench (not provided), tighten the left side cheekrest rail to the right side cheekrest rail by threading the screw threw the left side as seen in Figure 5. 5 6 Next choose the cheekrest you would like installed (short or tall) and then take the cheekrest as seen in Figure 6 and slide onto the cheekrest rails making sure the holes on the cheekrest line up with the cheekrest rail holes. 6 7 Using the provided 6-32 x .25 Low Profile Allen Head Screws and a 1/16 allen wrench (not provided), attach the cheekrest to the cheekrest rails as seen in Figure 7. Repeat the same process for the opposite side of the cheekrest. 7 70.0879.01 9 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Drop Tube Adapter Installation F NOTE: The Drop Tube Adapter can be used on several ATI stocks to provide the consumer with the ability to utilize the Iron Sights on some models, and also to help reduce the recoil affect. 1 With the stock folded, use a phillips head screw driver to unscrew the buffertube from the pivot housing assembly as seen in Figure 1 NOTE: For the aluminum upgrade you will need to use a 5/32" allen wrench to unscrew the buffer tube from the pivot housing. 1 2 Pull the buffer tube out of the pivot housing assembly as seen in Figure 2. 2 3 Next insert the adapter into the pivot end. Make sure that the adapter is angled down as seen in Figure 3. If you have purchased ATI's Tactical Shotgun Stock place the large washer into the pivot housing assembly before inserting the adapter. 3 70.0879.01 10 Ruger® Mini-14® Strikeforce Six Position Adjustable Side Folding TactLite Stock with Scorpion Recoil System Drop Tube Adapter Installation -Continued F 4 Using the screw that you removed in step 2, connect the adapter to the pivot housing assembly with a phillips head screwdriver as seen in Figure 4. 4 5 With the stock in the non-folded position, attach the buffer tube into the adapter. Make sure that the tube is at a downward angle as seen in Figure 5. 5 6 Line up the holes in the buffer tube with the holes in the drop tube adapter. Push the 8-32 x 5/16 barrel bolt though the adapter as seen in Figure 6A and secure it by connecting the barrel bolt with the 8-32 mating screw as seen in Figure 6B. 70.0879.01 6A 6B 11
