Memorial Hermann Risk Management Liaison
BASIC FUNCTION: Position responsible for providing liaison and consultation regarding
Risk Management/Safety/Quality Assurance to System Risk Management and to all
hospital departments. This position is responsible for providing education to new
employees and hospital staff regarding risk management policies and procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care
appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of
growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles. Specific age groups that
are served by this position are circled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
2. Current State of Texas license to practice professional nursing or a minimum
of 10 years experience in patient relations or risk management role.
3. Five years of progressive clinical experience in a hospital setting.
4. Knowledge of Risk management functions and JCAHO standards.
5. Demonstrates commitment to the Partners-in-Caring process by integrating
both Behaviors and Operating Principles in all internal and external customer
interactions. Performs duties with accountability, competency, innovation,
collaboration, compassion and respect to create the best possible outcomes with
exceptional customer experiences.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Review, process and analyze all occurrence reports related to patient, visitors
and non-employee events.
2. Provide consultation and assistance to System Legal and Risk Management
Services.
3. Review and investigate compliance to regulatory standards as it relates to Risk
management.
4. Review and recommend new or amended policies and procedures.
5. Coordinate the Hospital Medical Device program.
6. Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards,
within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management,
productivity, and accuracy of practice.
7. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting
requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports
department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization;
serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
