Installation Instructions Screen Boom by Draper CAUTION 1 Inspect all boxes to make sure you have received the proper parts. 2 Open cartons lengthwise. 3 All hardware must be installed level. 4 Installation should only be completed by qualified personnel. 5 Locate and identify all parts using the hardware list and the drawings. 6 Operates on 110-120V, 60 Hz AC. 7 Switch to be in full view of unit during operation. 8 Wiring diagram can be found on Page 4 of these instructions. 9 These instructions are meant as a guide only. They do not bind Draper, Inc. in any way and do not imply any responsibility of Draper, Inc. for improper installation or faulty work man ship at the job site. Preparation 1 Determine area where Screen Boom is to be installed and insure that there is sufficient clear wall space for the installation. Screen Boom can be installed to fold either left or right (Fig. 1) and with the electric linear actuator located A) toward the direction of the fold or B) AWAY from the direction of fold, so you will need to determine the desired direction and method of fold to insure you are allowing sufficient space. Attachment method to be determined by project architect/engineer. Note: Drawings will show locations of wall pads. Pads shown with vertical orientation, but can be rotated 90 as needed. Before drilling, make sure there are no obstructions or electrical wiring where you will be drilling. Spread plastic throws on inside floor before drilling. 1 Mark wall attachment locations on Wood Wall Pads (see fig. 2 at right). These may be adjusted to meet field conditions. (If thru-bolts are present, lay out holes to match bolt locations). Drill four 9/16" diameter holes if anchor bolts are ½" dia. (or larger, as needed). 2 Position part to be attached to wood pad on center line. Mark hole locations, and drill required number of 9/16" holes. 3 Turn wood pad to unfinished side, countersink 9/16" holes so carriage bolt heads will be flush with wood pad (1¼" diameter x ¼" deep). 4 Place wood pad against wall and mark wall where anchor holes are drilled in wood pad. 5 Drill holes in wall as required. Do not over tighten. Swivel should be as tight as possible that still allows it to move side-to-side freely. 2 Locate the C025.092 147” long, ¾” OD diagonal brace. Attach to diagonal brace to the swivel assembly installed using ½-13 x 2” bolt and nylon lock nut. Tighten the nut to the point where the diagonal brace is difficult to rotate, but not too tight. 3 Locate C419.016WA – 193” long extension arm assembly and attach it to bottom hinge using ½-13 a 2” Bolt and Nylon Lock Nut. Do not over tighten – Extension Arm should be as tight as possible that still allows it to move side-to-side freely. 4 Locate one of the C016.088MA 2-1/2” tube clamps (2 half clamps), two 3/8-16 a 1-3/4” bolts and two 3/8-16 flange lock nuts. Connect half clamps together with one bolt and nut, slide clamp over extension arm with bolt at bottom then connect diagonal brace between half clamps with bolting passing through all three pieces. 5 Diagonal brace should be attached per the appropriate (toward or way) dimensioned diagram so that it runs at about a 45 degree angle, but the brace can be slid in and out slightly as necessary to make sure the extension arm level. After you have determined that extension arm is level, tighten the tube clamp assembly. C016.088MA 6 Locate the C266.009 Electric Linear Actuator and connect the motor end to the Wall Mounted Actuator Hanger using a ½-13 x 3” bolt and 1-2-13 nylon lock nut. Do not over tighten – Actuator should be as tight as possible that still allows it to move side-to-side freely. Connect Actuator tube mount to extension arm in approximately the location shown on the appropriate dimensioned diagram. Lead from Actuator to Junction Box 8 Connect the eye-bolt end of the Linear Actuator to the Actuator Tube Mount using ½-13 x 3” Bolt and ½-13 Nylon Lock Nut. It may be necessary to connect power to the actuator to extend linear actuator to Tube Mount. Do not over tighten – actuator must rotate freely during folding process. Connect half clamps together with one bolt and nut, slide over extension arm with bolt at top. Place Small End of Snap Link between half clamps and insert bolt making sure it goes through the clamps and the snap link. Repeat process with other clamp. Clamp locations will be determined by screen location and length. Clamps should be left loose until screen is attached. Adjusting Limit Switches 1 The retracted position is pre-set at the factory. 2 The upper plastic ring (A) controls the extended position. Should this need to be adjusted, simply rotate clockwise for more travel and counterclockwise for less travel.
