DESCRIPTION:
Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer is a
clear saturating fluid specially designed to
penetrate the minute pores and capillaries
of rigid substrates. Effectively provides a
barrier to water penetration as well as
soot, dirt and mould growth.
USES:
• Ideal for prevention of external
penetrating dampness in walls.
• Excellent treatment for: Brickwork,
Concrete, Stone, Stucco and Render.
ADVANTAGES:
• Easy to apply, straight from the
container, by spray or brush for your
convenience.
• Can be applied to most masonry
surfaces enabling use in various areas
of the home.
• Will not stain stone, brick, stucco or
concrete, maintaining the natural
appearance of the masonry.
• Very good penetration (5mm into soft
brickwork) ensures longer lasting
protection for your masonry.
• Allows treated walls to “breathe” so
that air and trapped water vapour can
be
released
without
damaging
masonry or inside walls.
• Provides a minimum of 5-7 years
protection, longer with less porous
stone.
• Protects surfaces from spalling,
cracking,
disintegration
and
efflorescence, ultimately prolonging
the life of masonry.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
• The surface to be treated should be
dry and the joints of brick walls and
masonry in good condition. If this is
not the case then joints must be
scraped out and repointed with a high
quality mortar.
• Surface should be clean with all loose
particles removed.
• Best results are obtained when there
has been no rain for three or four days
and when rain is not expected.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUES:
• Brush or spray the wall, working from
top to bottom, flooding the surface and
not brushing it out. At least 150mm of
run down on the surface of the
masonry is recommended.
• When spraying, low pressure should
be used and a face respirator worn.
• For very coarse, or porous surfaces,
two coats of Lanko 231 Masonry
Waterproofer are required. Allow at
least 6-8 hours drying time at 200C
between coats, during which dry
conditions are essential, or the water
repelling performance of the product
may be reduced.
COVERAGE:
Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer will
cover approximately 9-12 square metres
per litre per coat (9-12m2/l), depending on
the porosity of the surface and site
conditions.
CLEAN-UP INSTRUCTIONS:
Excess Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer
and tools can be cleaned with mineral
turpentine.
PRECAUTIONS:
• Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer
should not be used where severe or
continuous
efflorescence
is
encountered. If any soluble salts are
present, they must be given adequate
time to back out of the system.
Therefore, new masonry surfaces that
are suffering from efflorescence
should be allowed to weather for one
year
before
applying
Masonry
Waterproofer.

Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer is
not suitable for use as a barrier
against hydrostatic water pressure.
Cover all painted woodwork, glass and
plants prior to application.
Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer
should be applied to joints with
particular attention, due to the
possibility of weak joints.
Lanko 231 Masonry Waterproofer is
flammable. Store in a dry place away
from open fires, stoves and heaters.
Keep lid firmly closed when storing
product. Avoid contact with eyes or
skin. Avoid breathing in vapour and
ensure adequate ventilation. Wear
suitable protective clothing, gloves,
mask and goggles.

Do not use cleaning solutions on
masonry surfaces that contain wetting
agents (oily surfactants) before
applying Masonry Waterproofer.
Be careful when applying Lanko 231
Masonry Waterproofer over light
coloured surfaces that have ingrained
dirt present. These surfaces typically
appear dirty when wet. This type of
surface will tend to acquire a dirty and
patchy appearance after being treated
with
Lanko
231
Masonry
Waterproofer.
