IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: READ COMPLETELY BEFORE PROCEEDING. When using this electrical equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: WARNING: • Follow all applicable electrical codes. •T urn off power at main source before making any electrical connections or servicing the unit. •T o reduce the risk of electric shock, injury or death disconnect unit from power supply HOW TO DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO A TRIDENT SERIES 2 UV UNIT The Trident units are made in both 120V and 230V. The method for disconnecting the electrical power to the unit is somewhat dependent on how the unit was installed. There are three possibilities. 1.The unit is a 120V and its power cord is plugged into a 120V receptacle. To disconnect power, simply unplug the power cord from the receptacle 2.The unit has been wired to the power source by the installer. A. To disconnect power, IF THE UNIT IS WIRED TO A DEDICATED ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT, simply identify the breaker in the supply panel serving the UV unit and turn off that breaker. If unsure which breaker is serving the UV unit, switch breakers on/off until the UV unit lamps go dark. Note: If any other piece of pool equipment goes off with the UV unit, the UV unit is not on a dedicated electrical circuit, so you must proceed to the following steps noted in step B. B. To disconnect power, IF THE UNIT IS WIRED TO A SHARED ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT, disconnecting electrical power to the unit is accomplished as follows: 1. TURN OFF the shared electrical circuit breaker. The UV lamps will turn off when you have switched off the shared breaker. YOU RISK SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH FROM ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF YOU DO NOT TURN OFF THE SHARED ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT BREAKER BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. 2. R emove the round bonnet on the top of the UV unit, using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the bonnet in place. Figure 1. 3. O n the black mounting plate, locate the item marked “Pressure Switch” Figure 2. 4. H old the pressure switch firmly. Remove the connector from the pressure switch as shown in the picture. Pull one of the two wires attached to the Pressure Switch off. The electrical power to the UV unit is now off. This is the easiest way to accomplish interrupting the electrical power to hard wired units. Figure 3. 5. A s an alternate, after the breaker serving the UV unit is turned off, the power can also be disrupted by unplugging the ballast(s) white plugs from the white receptacles marked on the black mounting plate as “Ballast Plug 1” and “Ballast Plug 2”. If two ballasts are present, both ballasts must be unplugged if this method to disconnect the electrical is used. Figure 4 & 5. 6. S et the bonnet back on the top of the UV housing and secure with the screws. 7. T URN THE BREAKER BACK ON and power serving the second piece of equipment on the same circuit will be restored. Check to be sure the UV unit does not illuminate. You will be contacted again before long regarding the next step. Figure 5
