Future Dates & Notices
Many thanks to all of you from Restore and from Sparkhill Foodbank for
all the gifts they received, which were delivered as a result of our Harvest
Festival last Sunday.
Bible Society. There is to be a Bible Society Coffee Morning on Saturday
8th October from 10.30 until noon, at St Peter's Church.
Home made cakes will be for sale and there will be a 'Bring and Buy' stall.
Church Anniversary. The Anniversary of us forming an L.E.P. will be
celebrated on Sunday 16th October. Linda Ramdharry will lead the service
and it will be followed by a Bring and Share lunch.
October 21, 1966. October 21, 2016. 50th anniversary of the Aberfan
disaster. There is a programme on Channel 4 to commemorate this event
on 21st of October. It is being produced by relative of Rina Humphries.
Val, Brian and family would like to thank everybody
for their sympathy, love and prayer following the death
of Val's father. They have been a tremendous support
to us - thank you so much.
Action for Chidren. Please could holders of the boxes return to Brian or
Jackie Tysall.
Discoverers News, There will be no Discoverers on 9th October, 16th
October and at half-term on 30th October
The funeral service for John Crossley Snr will be at Church on Friday
October 14 at 12:30 followed by committal at Robin Hood Meanwhile we
keep John and Marion in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you to everyone who came to see ‘More Canals
Than Venice and raised £275 for St Basils. Special
thanks to David Harwood for providing the projector and
screens and setting up for us on the night.
Friendly Corner A.G.M. This will take place on Tuesday 4th October at 2
p.m
You have done it again! – by your generosity you have exceeded
the 2020 target for August and September. We asked for £4,000 and
have received £5,700 before
Sunday 18 September, including
£500 from former members of
the church who have moved
away from Hall Green. Thank
you to you for giving and let’s
thank God for this response. By the end of November we aim to
raise a further £8,000, of which we already have £1,700!
Church directory. The church directory for 2017 is now in
preparation. Could you please check your entry and if you know of

Churches Together in Hall Green will be meeting
at our church at 7:30pm on Wednesday October
12th. All welcome.
Methodist Commissioning service and Local Preachers long
service awards will be taking place this year at Selly Oak Methodist
Church TODAY beginning at 6:30pm. One of those honoured for his
long service as a Local Preacher will be our own Mark Aldridge. Why
not join and celebrate with our Local Preachers in this wonderful
service?
Hope for the Future is a Christian climate
change charity and will be holding an advice
surgery in Birmingham for people who may
be meeting with their MP about climate
change. Below are the details for the advice
surgery. When - 22nd October, from 2pm.
Where - St Martin in the Bullring,
Birmingham. Meeting with your MP for the
first time can feel pretty daunting. Maybe
you are planning an event with your MP or have already met them
and are wondering how to move the conversation forward? To

An Evening with Marty Elliott.
In aid of our fundraising Marty Elliott has agreed to
do his one-man show for us on Saturday 15th of
October at 7:30pm. With songs from the Swing Era
to the Seventies there will be something for
everyone - who knows, you may even cast off your
inhibitions and dance!
Marty is a professional singer who has appeared in
our shows before and refuses even to take
expenses. So please support him and our
fundraising. Tickets are just £6 which includes
interval refreshments. Available form Lynn and Blair
Kesseler and Keith Dennis.
HGUCC Annual Dinner and Dance. Friday, 25
November at the Westley Hotel, Acocks
Green.
Bookings are coming in for this year's preChristmas celebration. As well as keeping the
same price as last year, £35 per person, we
have managed to increase the choice of meals!
If you came last year and enjoyed it, why not
bring your friends this year? If you weren't able
to be with us in 2015, come this year and see
what you missed! This is a major event and
needs YOUR support. You can reserve your
